Do you think the Canucks are showcasing Schneider?

Just throwing this out there, 4th game in a row for Schneids.Don't know how it would help the Canucks? as his cap hit is only $900,000.Schneider for Turris? Coyotes said they wouldn't trade Turris until he was signed. I thought maybe they where faking Luongo's injury getting ready to move him.
Schneider is a valuable asset, just wondering which teams are in need of a 1st string goalie?

Lou has a No Trade Clause, so he isn't going anywhere. I think they just played Schneider tonight because he had 2 shutouts in a row and might as well ride out his hot streak. If it helps up his trade value, and Gillis decides to move him, all the better. Nothing wrong with having a strong 1A and 1B goaltender (I'll let you decide who is A and B).

Trade clause isn't worth the paper it's written on. All it does is give the player being traded some input into where he's going. Owners(billionaires) don't really care about players(millionaires) or there no trade clauses. I would say Schneids is the best right now( we're certainly getting better value out of him)
Wayne Gretzky got traded. So i'm fairly confident that Lou is a tradeable asset? How much of an asset remains to be seen, especially with his baggage.
I don't think the 'nucks have much cap space left, so it'll proably be a money for money trade, or prospects & draft picks.

I don't know if they had no trade clauses back in Gretzky's days, but when a player has one, they absolutely can say nope, I'm not going. And unless you knew your player was thinking about going elsewhere, it would be a dangerous move to try to push them into it, as they would be pissed off at being unwanted. And if it turned into a pissing match between the player and managment, the trade value would go down as the other teams know you have an unhappy player.

The only real option to get rid of Luongo would be to buy out the contract. He'd be a free agent, could go anywhere he wants, but a portion of his salary would still count against our cap for at least a season. Luongo is the winningest goalie since the lockout, so would ownership really want to shell out $50 million just to get rid of him?

In a canucks forum people talked about luongos contract and having a out clause the 4th or 5th year for the team(where he's tradable). Anybody can comment on this or is it just a rumour?

No trade clause.........who cares if the owners are rich....Lou isnt waiving.

If Lou were to waive his ntc, it would be in a situation.....like maybe 5 years from now, the Canucks are rebuilding, and a contender wants Lou......maybe then he waives.

He wont waive, coming off an injury, where his backup has had a great week. Where any deal is going to make him look bad....and would certainly not be to a contender.

On the canucks forum, some of the kids there think the team should make him want to leave.
Like not washing his uniform, leaving it wet, even giving him the silent treatment.......yes the entire roster, coaching staff, and management giving the silent treatment till he waives.

Yes there is an out clause for Roberto in the fifth year and a Canuck out clause in year seven. However, if the relationship is`nt working for both parties, I`m sure they would agree to a move much sooner

Are we close to year 7 ? Maybe if we keep benching him he might wanna leave year 5. But then he has no value for trade :(

he is our best goalie. why fuck with chemistry because the D and F are all coming back to help out. Dumb move.

Run with Schneids and get back into playoff contention. We are just barely over 500 now.

Turris, who cares about him? Give your head a shake.

Hopefully, Roberto is willing to be traded...I still think ...Luo thinks the Canucks are HIS team!

The team is playing well because they have confidence in Schneider. Canucks are winning so why change? Schneider!

Schneider for Turris! Are you nuts - Turris is so overrated and we have so many centers that Cody Hodgson has to play wing. Schneider is playing becuase the Canucks need wins and he is simply out playing Luongo. My personal opinion is if Roberto doesn't play better and Cory keeps playing Roberto will asked to be moved before or at the end of the season. Roberto Luongo is a selfish player, an overrated player, an overpaid player (which does make trading me harder) and I think he would welcome a move back to the US. On the other had if Schneider ends up being traded they better get more than Turris - they better get a lottery pick or a stud d-man or a power forward. Just my opinion.

My thinking is the Canucks have to pay them both. So just play the one who is playing better. Luongo makes a pretty decent backup. And like you say Vanessa, watching Schneider play well and get the ice time might be the only incentive that will get Luongo to play better, given the contract he has.
i agree - play the one that plays the best. and the nights that luongo starts, don't wait until the score is 8-2 against before yanking him, he should be pulled much earlier imo when he's having a bad game

Wouldn't it be awesome if Schneids keeps this up for awhile and Louie gets frustrated and asks for a trade? :clap2:

Well, If we had to trade Schneids, I'd move him for a young power forward (Lucic/Shane Doan type).
