I am going to try and tell people I am not from Seattle but Western Washington when I meet someone I want to make a good impression. I don't want that person to prejudge me and think I am a tech a hole or 24/7 coffee maniac.

Life is too short to live where you hate, its true, but my choices in my early life has destined me to be here. I have thought of offing myself to avoid being in the city much longer. Seriously, I am have issues with this rude, ugly, dirty hellhole. Its me, I know it and I have tried to change but can't. May the heavens help me to get out soon. F you Seattle till the day I leave.

Only saving grace is the Mexican community here and the great taco trucks.

When I'm in another country I tell people that I live close to Vancouver. People in other countries are more likely to recognize the name of the city than the name of the province.

After spending a fair amount of time in the USA recently, I noticed that many people would ask, Washington or Canada when I told them I was from Vancouver. I started just saying Vancouver Canada, or leading with Canada and then saying West Coast when and if they asked for more detail. Once you get Canadian out of the way, most questions stop and 99% of the time, the person you are talking to becomes very friendly and thinks you are a nice person. Canadians have a solid rep at least in the parts of the US I have been traveling in.

......and then they smile and ask...." Can you say 'out and about' or ' EH! '.
I find that more Americans are traveling here, and liking it an awful lot.
