With respect, Caramel, "transgender" is not a lifestyle. Cross-dressing might be a lifestyle, but transgender is something else entirely. Sexual dsymorphic disorder is the state of having the outward appearance and sexual characteristics of one sex, but sexually identifying as the other gender. Sex, sexual identity and gender are three very different things; Male & Female, Straight & Gay is simply not all there is to the spectrum of human sexuality.
Born one way but identifying as another way is sexual dysmorphic disorder.

Sexual dysmorphic disorder is a disorder not of the body but a psychological condition.

A psychological condition is not what makes a woman a woman (nor a man a man).

Therefore that is a man, albeit a pretty one, and will always be a man even if he mutilates his penis to make it appear like a vagina.
An operation to do so will produce a penis that looks like a vagina that 1. cannot give birth, 2. cannot have a period, 3. cannot self lubricate, 4. cannot expand, 5. is relatively shallow and ends like a sock, 5. probably does not even feel like a vagina to sex partners.

People who are transgender need extensive psychiatric help more than they need to look like the opposite sex.

Check your closet..:)
There are men with balls that have none and women that need some.

Right...I just used the wrong term.

Thanks for pointing that out Miss Erica because I did a bad job of googling it before and then I read this and it confirmed a lot of suspicions I've had... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_identity_disorder
I love this part: "The current medical approach to treatment for persons diagnosed with gender identity disorder is to support the individual in physically modifying the body to better match the psychological gender identity."

It really resonates deeply and opens my eyes wide and has answered and confirmed a lot of questions I've been thinking of...I always ended up on the wiki page for "transgender" instead  and it left me with more questions. Obviously I was ignorant about this but heard all these things like suicide and then I learned from Caitlyn about how hormone therapy made her feel better mentally and I felt I could sort of relate because I also have a mental disorder, so then I became more curious. Anyway I've always been accepting of LGBT peoples and have always supported them, but was not properly educated on some of it especially the last "T" part. I think anyone who is skeptical about it should really read that wikipedia article.

I'm actually very happy this is happening because this issue was always something that was sort of "out of sight, out of mind", something at the back of my mind and I just accepted it as a fact of life, but never really knew anything at all about it. I'm glad Caitlyn has publicized this and brought it to light I feel a lot better with all the new knowledge I've learned...it's just something I never felt compelled to really research thoroughly before because I didn't understand it. Sexual orientation and homosexuality is a different topic altogether and I have already long accepted that as fact that its a natural occurrence in many species.

I don't agree, there is nothing that can be done except maybe a brain transplant  ...but then again, maybe those that wish they weren't this way could benefit, hmmm well I have no idea the extent of brain chemistry this affects so I cannot really comment.
