Good for her for coming out! I applaud it and her decision to live as a woman!
No one should be ashamed to live the life they want to live!

Cannot believe how people consider this person and the Kardashians "famous celebrities."
Agreed. Along with Paris Hilton yadda yadda yadda. Seems the whole world is following so called famous people who are really only there through birth right.

Although winning an Olympic Gold Medal does qualify one's self to celebrity status for that reason IMHO.

Oh 'just' a medal?

Bruce Jenner won an Olympic gold medal for DECATHALON: not a single event, a single race. TEN events over 2 days. Let's not diminish the accomplishment because we don't like how Bruce Jenner's story is evolving...

Traditionally, the title of "World's Greatest Athlete" has been given to the man who wins the Olympic decathlon. This began when King Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "You, sir, are the world's greatest athlete" after Thorpe won the decathlon at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912.[2] The current decathlon world record holder is American Ashton Eaton, who scored 9039 points at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials.[3] (Wikipedia)

Perhaps you have misread or minimized what I posted? I acknowledged the celebrity status based upon the Gold Medal in 1976.

I am well aware of the event he won in Montreal 39 years ago.

Oh I understand very well what you posted, and I agree with you, actually. I don't Kare for the Kardashians. I wasn't a fan of "Keeping up with..." or any of the subsequent series. Still, I can't help but be aware of their 'celebrity' status. I watched a lot of televised sports on TV as a kid: it was primarily why we had a tv. Those of us who admit to being old enough to remember the 1976 Olympics will know all about Bruce Jenner's accomplishments (And Nadia's perfect 10s, and Sugar Ray's light welterweight win...) I just thought it was important to stress that while it's a challenge to win an Olympic gold in a single sport, a decathlete competes in 10 events over 2 days, and that it includes some of the most challenging of the 'field' events, like the javelin, for example. Some of the younguns might wanna know why he's relevant other than that he's Kylie's dad.

The average 20something year old obsessed with the Kardashians might not have any idea though.

I think she looks so gorgeous, and even better than her ex wife Kris Jenner which is hilarious. I personally still don't really understand transgender lifestyle but if this is what is truly needed as long as it doesn't harm others its fine!

How about you just call her Caitlyn? Seems pretty simple to me!
I'm not trying to perpetuate any snark but I am academically curious about the original question. What would her kids call her? Caitlyn, too? I would not call my dad "mom" after a transition. "Mom" has a very special meaning to me that was earned over a lifetime and no one can just walk in and assume that title. I would not call a mother-in-law "mom".

Being their Dad will never change. He's changed in every way but will always be their father/step father.
I would imagine they will address her a Caitlyn.
Right, see that's what I'm curious about. Since she's still their father, a child calling a parent by their name seems like a demotion, yet saying "dad" would be similar to using insensitive pronouns. Seems like a damned either way situation.

ETA: although when your mom is Kris Jenner, maybe the name "mom" isn't so revered.

right here and now
She's still their dad, regardless, and always will be- transgender or not.
Took a lot of guts to do what she did, and I respect her for it. You only have one life to live so be true to yourself.

With respect, Caramel, "transgender" is not a lifestyle. Cross-dressing might be a lifestyle, but transgender is something else entirely. Sexual dsymorphic disorder is the state of having the outward appearance and sexual characteristics of one sex, but sexually identifying as the other gender. Sex, sexual identity and gender are three very different things; Male & Female, Straight & Gay is simply not all there is to the spectrum of human sexuality.

photoshop at its finest. man or woman. no one looks like that at 65.
I disagree!! There are many beautiful men and women who look like that at their age!
Look at Jessica Lange! She looks absolutely amazing for her age!
Goldie Hawn is 69!! Susan Lucci and Susan Sarandon are in their late 60s!
