I drink 2 cups of coffee on weekdays since I have to try and stay awake at the job. On weekends I try to stay totally caffeine free, not even a Coke. As I type now I having the hardest caffeine withdrawl. Both weekend days have been very tough to say the least. I am doing this for health reason, I need to increase my rem sleep and caffeine is a rem sleep killer.

Are they any of you perbs out there able to live caffeine free altogether? If you are its amazing or you have the body and energy of a 16 year old.

Caffeine is vital to survival. A recent study conducted by me proved that I am a bitch without coffee. A few times a day is better to ensure that i remain calm, cool and collected. Without caffeine, I become a bitch to the point in which people around me want to kill me. So yes, caffine is the key to survival. Damn, I can't give my mailing address.

Ahh, I just drink a coke, so much for having the power to stay caffeine free all weekend. At least my headache is gone somewhat.

If it weren't for addictions our economy would be stagnant. Coffee, booze, nicotine, excess sugar or salt or fat (or all 3), and a host of illegally-gained substances... I hate addictions and I really can't stand addicts any more, I just view them as weak, pathetic losers. "It's not our fault" they say, "we're just doing what everybody does." True. The big marketing machines require sales and addictive products really are the best money makers. Suckers... When something affects you negatively, and pisses you off that it controls you, isn't it smart to stop?

I have no real craving for any of these things, I occasionally indulge in some of them - but usually only as a reward - and since I am 'clean' they have a really nice kick in small quantities... But to be falling asleep cuz of coffee withdrawl - that is pathetic.

Now what about SEX, can a person be addicted to sex? It's something you're supposed to do, it's natural, healthy and good for you. How do you define an addiction to sex? For guys it is fairly self-limiting - can we really get addicted to it? If I have a really nice, satisfying screw - I often stay satisfied for days. If I have a poor session, I still get the same physical release, but I am then looking again sooner for a 'better' one. So it's not really the sex act - Is it the associated relationship or love or attention that a person craves? It's like saying a person is addicted to water - but without it he'd die. Is sex a necessity, like water, or a luxury, like caffeine?

can a person be addicted to sex?

From Sexaholics Anonymous

1. Have you ever thought you needed help for your sexual thinking or behavior?

2. That you'd be better off if you didn't keep "giving in"?

3. That sex or stimuli are controlling you?

4. Have you ever tried to stop or limit doing what you felt was wrong in your sexual behavior?

5. Do you resort to sex to escape, relieve anxiety, or because you can't cope?

6. Do you feel guilt, remorse or depression afterward?

7. Has your pursuit of sex become more compulsive?

8. Does it interfere with relations with your spouse?

9. Do you have to resort to images or memories during sex?

10. Does an irresistible impulse arise when the other party makes the overtures or sex is offered?

11. Do you keep going from one "relationship" or lover to another?

12. Do you feel the "right relationship" would help you stop lusting, masturbating, or being so promiscuous?

13. Do you have a destructive need -- a desperate sexual or emotional need for someone?

14. Does pursuit of sex make you careless for yourself or the welfare of your family or others?

15. Has your effectiveness or concentration decreased as sex has become more compulsive?

16. Do you lose time from work for it?

17. Do you turn to a lower environment when pursuing sex?

18. Do you want to get away from the sex partner as soon as possible after the act?

19. Although your spouse is sexually compatible, do you still masturbate or have sex with others?

20. Have you ever been arrested for a sex-related offense?
