Can you elaborate on this? How do house odds change over time. Please define a run from a statistical perspective as a function of house odds on the very next hand played. Also, when does one know they are on a run? If I have two coins and toss them simultaneously, what are the odds they both come up heads, heads and tails and tails? How does the previous occurrence of an event influence the statistical probability of the next event, all things being equal over time?
Hunny's actually correct Hunka

Yes Sir I did. I thought I was over it until last year. I try and stay away from the tables when I go. It was those darn Japanese that dragged me with them to the table. I hit a hot table did well. I called Rio in vancouver tried to convince her to fly to Vegas but she could not come and I could not sleep. So I sat at the table talking to the new dealer and before you knew it I was down. I took it in the bum that night. I just lost my focus. I think the guys who say hit and run are correct.

Oh well. It is kinda like the SP you get a good one you do not want to stop. The heat of the moment.

You're not alone, Dickson. It's against human nature to quit while we're ahead. I've been up many times (nothing like your $$$ though) and I've learned to leave when I'm ahead; even $500 - $800 is a big win to me, and a good reason to get up and go home! Now tourneys, that's different. Gotta stick around to the bitter end to cash. I think the toughest thing for poker players is to realize that cash games and tourneys are not the same game at all!

PlayfulAlex, play big win big. Play small lose small. Of course play big, lose big, but we only live once so why not go for it. Besides it is only money lots more where that came from. Never been one for tourneys. I use to gamble with a close group who I know. Keep a low profile. I like to play at tables by myself or only with a few people I know. Just me and the house when possible. Nothing worst than crapping out on someone elses roll. False sense of security when I spin the wheel.

The $ thing is all relative. My biggest win was years ago in a little casino in Potsdam Germany. Love those wins but you forget the losses. Oh well I stay away from the tables if I can now. Like Inthebum pointed out I did have a problem with it. Now I just gamble on the SP I will see. My odds are better but I lose there some times as well.

Ah the casino...so much potential fun/punishment.....I have taken a few beatings and I have had some kick ass winning days...I tend to play poker these days with a set buy in and if I lose I leave....last good run I had I ran $135 up to $900 on a $1-$2 no limit game and I let 3 hands slip away from me.....soon as I left the table the guys on either side of me cut cards for my seat.....the guy who won got dealt pocket aces and shot the moon on them and lost his whole chipstack in 1 hand...good timing on my part for leaving.

As for the craps table that is a different situation....I love chucking the dice but I have been throwing ice cubes for quite some time....I have had a few good rolls but nothing like back in 2008 when I was on fire....my best was a string of 12 consecutive feild rolls with a run of 3 snake-eyes in a row...I was the only guy at the table betting on the field and I was just letting my $10 bet ride and ride with occaisional profit taking....with 1 $10 bet I made $1900...had I thrown out a $10 bet on the 1st snake-eyes and parlayed it twice I would have won $270,000 though I doubt the casino would have let me place the 2nd bet of $9000 LOL.....I had a few other really good days in 2008 and not by moy own hand....got onto a table one day and we had 4 shooters in a row who had awesome rolls who set and took down the point 4+ times and each time they hit a bunch of numbers as well as hardways...hell 1 guy got the table name "freight train" as he threw 2 boxcars in a row 4 times...after he did it twice whenever he threw a boxcar everybody at the table threw out a $10 bet on 12 including me and I even threw a $2 bet on the boxcar for the crew for good karma.

Simply put there is nothing more exciting at the casino than a well run fast action craps table with a hot shooter....douchebags that make 10 different $2 bets everytime the dice are thrown seriously slow down the table.

As for blackjack I rarely play it anymore as all it takes is getting some retard who splits kings VS a dealers 4 with the reason of "I want to win money" yet the fucktard is only betting $5 and his actions cause you to lose the $80 of the casino's money that you parlayed from a $20 bet......and yes I have had this happen a bunch of times.

I won 45 dollars for a couple of visits, and then today all of a sudden I lost $190. I only bet on red, black, odd and even on a roulette table. But miracle happened today, about 12-13 rolls without a black, and 8-9 without a small number. After that many reds, of course i tried my luck on black after 8 reds+ and I just kept losing. So weird, I am still winning money overall but i will never go and play in a casino again as I think the outcomes are controlled by some people.
I tend to think the amount of good luck and bad luck has a set balance.
It may be from my Asian cultural back ground.
If I have a good luck at one pint, bad luck would come to balance up.
So, if I accidentally have a good luck in a casino (wasting a good luck at a casino), a bad luck would come back to me, I believe.

So, me, never go to a casino.

Or, you can simply think I am just a frugal gal.

I'm gonna be in Vegas shortly and I will be kickin a*s on the black jack tables!

*Set a $$$ amount in your head and when you hit it leave the table, your work is done. The problem with a lot of us is, we don't leave the table and give it all back or end up chasing. The longer you are at the table, the better odds the house has. Hit and run, hit and run.......

** stagger your bets when your on a run and pull back when the dealer is on theirs. Seems simple but you'd be surprised how many people bet the same amount all the time and don't take advantage of runs.
This video is great...the guy at the 13 min mark says exactly what hunka said above...in fact, I think it is Hunka and his friend. It's all big talk and they end up losing in the end.

Personally I am up 5 figures gambling, but I understand the odds and it was hard hard work...

Thanks Dickson, someday I'd love to give this idea a try! I'm open to taking some risks, but I've never really had the bankroll to fully test my skills!

And I love listening to your stories! Here's hoping you continue to play big, and win big...in the casino, and in life!

the trick is to leave when things are bad or you are up $ not keep throwing more $ out there.
That is indeed the ticket. If it's baccarat, then set a goal of $100 a day win and leave when you have it. Be sure you have enough bankroll to get you through the tough spots as they may arise. That $100 is $36,500 a year, taxfree, less any losing days. If you are good at it, the $100 goes fairly well to $500.

And be sure you do know how to play the game! And control ourself! Otherwise the house and everything can be gone in a smaller time than you could ever imagine.

Thanks for posting this video ITB I quite enjoyed it.As for the people in the video they are interesting to say the least. The guy who won 10 G's at blackjack and then gave it back along with another 15-25 G's of his own money is an idiot of the highest order. The old woman who is a retired doctor who has lost 4 million over a long protracted period of time is definatly addicted to gambling and needs professional help to say the least. As for the high roller I guess if he can afford to lose that kind of money it is his choice but I do question the act of stuffing hundred dollar bill after hundred dollar bill into several slot machines at the same time.A wiser choice with that kind of money would be to hit the craps table. As for his so called "friend" who works for the casino, with "friends" like that you dont need any enemies.

No prob SR! I love the video and found it very entertaining as well...in fact I watched it twice. The two somewhat slimy salesmen really crack me up...I actually would love to see them hit it big and get a bunch of hookers back at their room. Actually, for the amount of gambling they do, you would think they would get comped at least a decent room...

I played a fair amount of Blackjack. I was thinking about playing Texas Hold'em but sitting at the table for 3 hours and keeping your focus for that long of time can be difficult. How good are the players at the poker table???
