I'll warn people upfront. This is a controversial topic. Hopefully we can have a mature and meaningful conversation. I tired posting this thread on the other review board but they weren't interested in having this conversation. I have more faith in Fred Zed. I thought I would come here instead.
I've spent some time posting on ECCIE in Texas and on several punter forums over the past few months. I noticed how they rarely shutdown any review threads. They only close review threads when clients are attacking SP's or clients are attacking other clients.
I have to complement Fred Zed and the mods on PERB/TERB/MERB. You guys understand the importance of not mico managing reviews for reasons of integrity.
We regularly see positive reviews with nary a comment or reply getting closed on the other Alberta review board on a regular basis. This actually does more harm to an SP's reputation since the discussion moves into the shadows where things no longer be moderated.
Issues caused by closing threads too soon:
The punter boards in the UK set-up forum guidelines to govern how and when a review can be opened or closed. They do this to ensure the staff is being consistent in how they manage reviews on punter boards.
Do you feel there should be a standard set of forum guidelines governing how & when reviews are opened and closed on Canadian review forums?

Issues caused by closing threads too soon:
- Guys don't feel they can post accurate or honest reviews. You can't trust the reviews on websites that do this.
- SP's can't defend themselves from false accusations
- The conversation moves into the background where SP's have their reputations marred with false information
- Encourages White Knights to spam future threads on SP's they feel will receive special protection from the mods
- Only certain SP's have their review threads closed on a regular basis. The mods are letting personal feelings get in the way of treating everyone fairly under the forum rules. There's a definite bias there.
