Do you ever practice or try to speak another language with your SP?

When you see a SP who are from another country, do you ever try to say a few words in their languages or try to speak it if it is a language you are trying to improve in?

Some SPs advertise, "Oui je parle francais aussi" and I take that as an invitation to speak French if you know how. Of course, sometimes they won't speak much English in the first place

Yes.

I speak six languages. Practice is practice is practice. It's a great way to quickly establish rapport.

I can say at least Hello & Thank you in many MANY languages. Everyone smiles when you say hello to them in their own language, in my experience.

The only other language I speak is Blackfoot.....not a very target rich environment in BC.
I know a few words in German, Cree, and Danish....again you don't get the opportunity much, although I did run across one girl years ago in Surrey, that I greeted in Cree....she was very surprised.

I can speak passable Japanese and it is funny how many Korean SPs can speak Japanese (and much better than I can I might add). I've never actually been with a Japanese SP here though. I had one Korean SP that started making the "J-porn" sex noises. Was totally hilarious since she went over the top with it
