Do finger cots provide the same protection as a condom?

This may sound like a peculiar question, but I have a gentlemen friend who has a mico penis (it is less than an inch and a half long, and about the thickness of my baby pinky when fully erect).

Clearly even 'snugger fits' aren't going to stay on, so I was hoping you could shed some light regarding the safety of using a finger cot. My assumption is that they would protect just as well, since they are meant to protect when coming into contact with fluids, however, I would like to veify that before using them.

Thank you for your time and invaluable knowledge, and have a fabulous long weekend!

Perhaps custom-made?

On a more serious note, I'm going to guess that finger cots aren't held to the same quality standards as condoms, and therefore NOT safe to use.

Come on guys. It's a serious question and I'm guessing the guys got enough to deal with. Personally, I give him cudos for having the moxy to seek out the best and not settle for less. And good on you Angel for trying to find a reasonable solution to a difficult and perhaps embarassing situation. He's in good hands, so to speak.

Personally I would consider a female condom in this case.

I would recommend the same...finger cots are meant to go in once in the rectum and out...not meant for repeated action, not to mention he would not feel a thing...

They're probably safer...

Because they're not designed to be thin enough to provide any sensation to the uh.. finger.

So they're likely tougher than condoms. I think they idea of a female condom is probably better though.

God how awful it must be for that poor fella.

I know we're not supposed to give advice on this section of the forum but it's not a regular health question so I thought I'd chim in.

Hi Lady Companion

One of the best resources I have found for condoms in Vancouver is Carol at the Rubber Rainbow Condom Company. They used to have a shop on Denman but have recently moved to Main Street.

I gave your question to her and this is what she said.

A finger cot is going to be better than nothing, but since it has not been tested as a condom it is unsure how effective it will be for sensation and protection. Condoms certified in Canada have gone through testing standards to ensure they will be protective when used for sex.

She said that she has a number of products that would do the job.

1. She has some “Snug snug” condoms that may work.
2. Has a kit device that attaches to the condom and keeps it on.
3. Has another device that would go around the penis (to hold the condom on) its also has a small vibrator attached to it.

I mentioned the female condom but she thinks that you won’t get the “feeling” in this situation.

Her recommendation would be to go with product number 3 as it would give the best sensation for both people. She thought it would be important for the man to be able to offer pleasure to the lady.

She also said that she offers special discounts for sex workers.

If you would like additional information you could always give her a call at.

Thank you for the very helpful specific suggestions, as well as the information on the store.

I will pop in and see which of those alternatives is most likely to work.

As always, we appreciate your time, dedication and research.

Have a wonderful week!

I read this section from time to time to see what issues are out there from a health perspective. It was on this thread more so than others that I noted Health Nurse's response was so professional, well researched and helpful. To date, I have not needed her services directly but I do appreciate her presence here and I hope she feels appreciated by board members. Thank You Health Nurse.
