Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I heard yesterday that Kim Kardashian is spending over $20,000,000.00 on her wedding.
Is this true?

Haven't these fuckng self absorbed, publicity seeking people heard there are babies and children dying in Africa right now!

I'm so fucking disgusted with these little Kardashian whores I can hardly speak.

I know some people may come on here and try to defend this with the usual "Its her money" or "she does give alot to charity already" but I'm sorry, I don't care how much freakin' money you have given already. If you can waste $20,000,000.00 on "your big day" , which will likely last less than 2 years, while children live in extreeme poverty in your own country, let alone all over the world, there is something seriously wrong with you. Do she know how much of a difference she (and others) could make with this money?

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a capitalist and a business owner. I do believe one has the right to enjoy the fruits of their labors and the risk they took by investing in the economy. But at what point does one not take a good hard look in the mirror and say, "You know what, I've got a good life. I'm comfortable, I have a nice house, I have food, my kids education is paid for, I have a few toys and go on a nice vacation every year. I don't need MORE and it's time to start giving to those less fortuante, especially children who didn't ask to be born into the situations they find themselves in.

Without posting quotes, is it "her" money. From the looks of things it's sponsor money, just like Star Jones and her "celebrity" wedding. You get a bunch of corporate sponsors that lay on the goodies to get their names mentioned and, bingo a multi-million dollar wedding. The people that can actually afford these types of weddings, usually have quieter less expensive affairs, while the train wrecks that people watch so they can feel better about themselves, milk it for what it's worth.

In the end it's not our money being spent, so no matter what better places there are to be spending it, what can we do about ? At best we stop supporting the people that support them.

I am also a capitalist and business owner and agree with you with one exception. Her wedding although tacky, does stimulate the economy. Ironically she is doing more for the economy than the person who has a modest wedding.

We live in a service economy and it is things like this that keep the wheels moving, that keeps you in a job, so don't knock it. If it wasn't "spent" in this way (it isn't really being spent, much of that cost is on paper only) it wouldn't be spent at all.

It is interesting that you complain about on one hand about wasting money and then go on to suggest other ways to waste it, as if those are more noble. The thing about poverty, both in North America and especially in the third world, is that it is characterized by (a) people living in environments that can't support them, and (b) people who are not willing to help themselves and their community. A lot of the problems those societies face are easily solvable if the people who live in them would simply get together and work as a collective in a positive way to resolve their problems. They don't do that, in general they just for the most part sit around doe eyed and wait for someone else to come and help them out in the short term, only problem is that "short term" is forever. Then there is the environment thing. Take the current famine in east Africa for example. The problem there is that there is overpopulation of people living a subsistance lifestyle in an area that is in the process of desertification. So, whenever the cyclical drought comes along, they starve and we see the same pictures again and again and again. Pouring money in there is like pouring it down the drain. The only way to "solve" the problem is to either change the lifestyle of the people living there (again, it will require them to come together and self sacrifice - not going to happen) or the population has to be drastically reduced so that it is small enough to survive on the resources available in the down cycle. Nature has a way of doing that, and that is exactly what it is doing now.

Tis true...the worst thing a rich person can do is put all their money in the bank. They should hire lots of servants and loads of new clothes every year, because it does stimulate the economy and it does keep people employed.

Nothing worse than chinzy rich people.

Now, that said, I had to change the channel when one of those food shows began. It was about creating way over the top meals and it did remind me of the 3/4 of the people on the planet who subsist on very little and not much of it interesting.

All weddings are a waste of money. Was recently at a friends wedding. The couple makes about 70,000 total a year. Their wedding was just north of 100,000g with family helping. Her engagement ring was $19,000 I was there to see him buy it.

They are renting in Langley, saving for a townhouse in Langley or even Abby.
When you tell him that the wedding and ring would have easily been the 25% of what they want.
He kind of agrees, she gets really mad. At the rate they are saving, it will take them 6-8 years to get their place. If housing doesnt go up.....in which case Id say the only way they own is when someones parents die.

But it was open bar

Don't you think its kind of weird to get so incensed over something that you don't even know if its true or not. 20,000,000? Does that even come close to sounding probable? (I guess so, hence the thread and rant).

Rather than look at it as her spending $20M, why not look at it as $20M being spent in the community. That pays a lot of people that need the money. Better she spend it on a wedding than sit on it in a bank where it does nobody good but her.

Waste of money and just goes to prove how fucked up peoples priorities are. The community will not see a dime, the money will go to designer labels from wedding clothes to the napkins on the tables, private security and to whom ever she can get to play live. Most of the peple working the event will be paid average salaries plus tips and that is only if they are allowed to accept gratuities.

Waste of time, money and genetics and over all just another media circus about someone who went from a nobody socialite, to an over night sensation by having a video of her having sex with a professional athelete "Stolen" and released on the web.

The economy is going to shit everywhere and money that could easily fund 20 charities/outreach programs is spent in a frivolous manner in order to outdo the recent royal wedding, great way to rub it in the faces of the unfortunate who count themselves lucky that they have one decent meal a day.

I would rather masturbate with sandpaper rather than subject myself to watching that farce take place.

Sorry for the tone, but it is things like this that gets me annoyed, how people perpetuate mindless, insincere tripe, then wonder why thier societies priorities are fucked up when the death of a music star overshadows a tragic shooting that took many young and innocent lives.

I wouldn't say ALL weddings are a waste of money. The last one I went to was a blast! Great DJ (it's true, he had everyone dancing to actually good, classy music from 7pm to 4 am). The last one standing was the brides father, his suit a mess and he just kept saying to me "I've never heard such great music in my life!". The sound system cost about $600 to rent. DJ was $400.

Open bar probably $3000 in booze. Hall rental maybe $500.

So for less than $5000 it was a party to remember. So many friends got laid that night... some of those who hooked up sparked long relationships that continue today.

So if you make the mistake of getting married, go ahead and spend a few grand and throw your friends and family a shaker. Totally worth it (the party, that is)
