That sounds really cool. Might I ask which hotels do this? And do you have to be staying there for them to do it?

You might find some independent delis, as well as some delis in up-scale supermarkets, will also do this for you. If you give them advance notice and let them know what you want many of them are happy to help out.

Lee Valley Tools has a great little picnic basket that comes with plates, cutlery, wine cooler, etc... which is a great start. Can't recall if it includes a blanket. However, I think it also works as a backpack in case you want to hike to a nice secluded place for a little after meal tryst. :)

duck

Actually I love to cook. My favorite dish is Duck LaFontaine with a cherry sauce, served with a wild rice medley, steamed mixed vegetables and a bottle of chilled chardonnay. For dessert, a homemade chocolate cake served with homemade vanilla ice cream.
That's quite elaborate. I like duck too. I make Shake and Bake, half regular and half Cajun (the extra crispy kind) and add black pepper, granulated garlic, thyme, freeze dried chives, and rosemary. then I get the pieces all thickly coated and moisten it to prevent scorching, and bake it. Chicken, duck, it works for both. For veg, broccolli and baby carrots or green beans - steamed. Whole wheat kaiser with buttlermilk margarine, and for dessert, sliced fresh strawberries with herseys kisses in it. I don't drink so I would serve it with apple juice or some kind of (real) fruit punch. More people found this thread interesting than I thought. :p
I have to admit though, I doubt I would be willing to pay some one to eat my cooking - I'm not that bad at it. ;)
