Looks like Surrey's blonde version Chisty Clark, mayor Diane Watts has a hate-on for prostitution.

She's had bylaws close most MP's in Surrey over the last 6 months.

Today, Susan Davis was on CKNW talking about the recent court ruling on prostitution and making things safer for women and later Watts tweeted, "Selling human beings is never acceptable."

I guess she doesn't understand we only rent, not buy. She's as ignorant on the subject as she is on a lot of things. The media give her a free ride on everything.

If Watts has closed down the micros, ... GOOD! We should all be seeing independents, women who run their own business. I think the profession, oldest or not, needs more professionalism, and I have seen that only with independents.

Yes but MP refers to Massage Parlors not micros, and some gentlemen are more comfortable going into an established business, with staff, and a business license. So I wouldn't put MPs down.

Also, many if not most of today's most professional independents got their start at high quality MPs so, no matter how you carve it, it really is a shame that the MPs have faced such discrimination. At one time, the politicians were going after those MPs that were located close to schools, which I can understand. And MPs have always had discretion issues. Remember the sign on the nondescript entrance door, "Discrete Rear Entrance"!

I guess Ms. Watts wants Surrey to be a no-fun-zone! Or is it "NIMBY - Pooners, you'll have to get your jollies elsewhere!"

Sorry, didn't realize that. Still I do prefer to see a woman who has her own business and is in charge of it.

Diane Watts has been closing down all adult-oriented businesses and is unfriendly towards anything new cropping up. Her stance on prostitution is not surprising.

Also, Diane seems like to restrict her viewpoints to the shady side of prostitution so I guess she need to be educated. Imagine, seeing her handle on perb.

It is interesting that the more enlightened minds of the nation in the recent court case have gone just the opposite way to Watts. Permitting MP activities keeps it safe and contained. What is happening now is that the trade is moving into condominiums and rentals housing in Surrey putting others at risk of encounters in their home areas. Stupid move really. It will just up the costs of policing it and piss off tenants etc. Same type of approach tried in the seventies when the Penthouse was closed down and the gals hit the streets. You really can't stop a gal from running this business out of her home.

It will likely take a few serious damage cases in Surrey to wake up the public that these policies are retrogressive.

The "trade" will respond to the challenges. In their own way.
