What are the thoughts on providers asking for deposit to make a booking?
I've always read that's a red flag in this city but some reputable providers are requiring that for booking now.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
The answer lies in your question.
The key word here is "reputable".
Just like in any business venture there are people who you know you can trust and those who you can't.
If you were operating a business and someone asked for credit you'd more likely give it to someone who you had developed a relationship with or perhaps came with a solid recommendation from someone you trust versus a first time customer with no references.
I just quickly scanned through the escort listings on LL and can tell you there is not one provider that I would give a deposit to but that's just my experience.

Cheers
J

Thought I'd bump this thread for discussion. deposits come up because I'm a new client so there's no relationship prior, even for appointment less than hour asked to provide a deposit online to make an appointment. Is this normal and advisable?

If you search around perb, you will notice that more and more reputable well-known providers are asking for an anonymous deposit. And the clients have nobody to blame but themselves because of the exponential increase in no shows. I believe the norm is somewhere around $50.

If it is a well known provider that also advertises on the better known review sites, I have no issue giving a deposit

Thanks for the insight. I understand the concept of deposits in other businesses, and have heard of it asked in the past, mostly for securing multi hour appointments, outcalls, duos ect. Seems to be a firm requirement now, which is what I wanted second opinions to verify. It can be a bit of a deterrence if your just booking a HH and want to be discreet. I'll stay to the providers I already have good relationships with.

Been in the game for a long long time and have never been asked to provide a deposit. That being said, I rarely participate these days and am highly selective and if it's a deal breaker then so be it. I don't need a paper trail.

I always follow cancellation protocols and one time when I needed to cancel inside a 24 hour time frame, I forwarded/mailed full payment.

Peace
MG

It would take a court order and a lot of work to track down who provided the anonymous gift card. And if you're worried about purchasing the anonymous gift card and leaving some sort of a trail on a credit bill, it's a $50 gift card. There are so many reasons for purchasing a $50 gift card. A gift to a friend, a gift for a relative, a gift for somebody work and so on. I'm not saying that the fear of leaving a paper trail is completely unfounded, but it is very remote.

I would also like to comment on the fact that if you found yourself having to cancel without good notice, you made good on the donation. You're a good man for that and should act as an example for others.
