Yes - saw the news. Wonder why he did not pick better subjects for his interviews. I wonder if someone like Emily Marie would be available for an interview with him. She is obviously willing to show her attractive face, is intelligent and well spoken, and probably a bit gutsy, considering her travels. She could well represent the independent escorts and their views.

by 'better subjects' did you mean better looking?
I thought he interviewed both ends of the trade; the lower end street walker and the higher end escort.
and both parties presented some very compelling answers.

the Liberal choirboys should stop this grandstanding and legalize this pay for play industry already.
what needs to be done is to create a safe area where SP's and johns can mingle.
It works in Amsterdam so why not here?

Who want to make an honest documentary on this business???
It just not been done

I have see the different side of this business now for most of the last 9 year's
I have not seen really bad stuff .but heard of it now and then
I haven't picked up girls on the street ..but drive by them every night I work...and many of the girl I drive. And even some I saw once worked on the street.. Some have even gone back. Because of need ..and others like it better then working in agencies..go figure.

So none is as I have seen shown or talked about in the media or with their pericular slant

1) I picked on Emily Marie because she is an independent escort, not working for an agency. The thread about Bill C-36 shows that the independents seem to have a different perspective than anything expressed by those working for an agency. Come to think of it - have we heard anything from agency escorts?

2) Interesting observation about Amsterdam - toured the Red Light District a couple of years ago during the day, and was pleasantly surprised by the number of children, either with parents or in school groups, who were also touring. Does that mean that in a more open society children are not sullied by the sale of sex?

I toured Amsterdam too, and frankly a lot of it made me sick. There was definitely a sane section, but some of the rest of it just wasn't fit for publication.

I think what should be taken away from Susi's origin post and the post that included Evan Solomon's report is that this industry is extremely complex. There is no black and white perspective to it, but rather many shades of gray. The arguements that Chris Atchison makes on his site are valid and make sense from the perspective of those purchasing sex. The arguements that were made by the first two woman that Evan interviewed, who were clearly involved in the industry because they had no other means to support themselves, along with the agency represenatives, is the right to be viewed with dignity. Taken together the most effective thing do with the sex industry is to legalize and regulate it. The Conservatives, however, are never going to do that because they are fueled and backed by abolitionists (poor choice of terms considering the historical context of the word) and religous zealots, who, to quote Marilyn Manson, cannot see the forest for the trees. I can only hope that LE, like the officer in Evan's report, will continue to take that kind of approach to the sex industry. Fair and equilitably treatment for all sides should be the norm, but that is likely never to happen until law makers come up with laws that support both sides.
