For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated,

"If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash........

twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a manoeuvre such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light.

I love the next one!!!

7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

I had a good laugh!! Thank you SG4EvaH!!!!

I"ve had many frustrating times with my computer (I'm an IT guy at work, go figure). Quite honestly PC is just crap, it does the job, but it's limited and not reliable. I work in an office that employs about 300 employees and in any given week, there would be at least 2-3 computers doing some funky crap. Many times we don't know what's causing the problems. I would have to play detective and ask the employee to describe the scenario (like a crime scene).
My PC computer at home is ok, but after watching a couple of those Mac commercials had me laughing so hard (really creative and funny commerical)and also the possibilty of buying one.

Hey SG4EVAH,

Is the money better as an SP?

Not always.... LMAO:)

Ok now on a side note, while I was at school in Winnipeg, at CDI, the teacher Milo asked me what I wanted, I said I want the powers of god. He said did you hear that class?? Angie said she wanted the powers of god ( I was referring to the "power" that admins can sometimes hold and wield) That was a good laugh class wise

Computers are the way to the future:D . They have improved our lifestyles in some ways but they also had stress to us in other ways.
Computers are always improving and getting smaller ;)

well, in one way GM and MS are the same: they both sell old technology
loaded up with expensive options you don't want or need but can't buy either
without!

i would be 'satisfied' with MS if it had a 'race car' version ... stripped down
to just operate what you need and then give me the option of the performance
enhancements I want to make it go fast!!! (QM'r would understand this ...)

And, it really pisses me off that for every mistake those fukkers at MS make,
we have to pay for a new operating system ...

I am seriously looking at a Mac ...

I love MS Windows, works great for me. The thing that keeps jabbing me in the ass with a broom handle is the fukkin hardware. I'm sick and fukkin tired of buying motherboards, HDD's, video cards and they croak less than a year later. Fukkin bullshit!!!!

I can find old P1's and 2's on the side of the road that still fire up no problem, but my 10 month old ASUS's $150 mother board is fukkin well in the g*d damn garbage can dead as a friggen door nail!!!

I remember in the good ol days you would retire your computer and sell it and buy something better. Now the POS konks out, you either flog the thing for what ever money you can get to some sucker or just toss the fukker and start over.

I've been lucky, on average, my motherboards and video cards would live up to about an average of 1 1/2years to maybe 2 years.

Not everyone finds computers as friends of the future. There are people who prefer to do complete certain tasks without the help of computers.
luv-em-n-lv-em does this mean you can not commit to anything constructive:confused:

GM should take good hard look at themselves:rolleyes: . The foreign market, like Toyota and Honda are showing GM, Ford and Chrysler how to make affordable vehicles that last longer, more durable and better resale value than North American vehicles;) :p  . As soon as Toyota and Honda get into full gear producing full sized pickup trucks, watch out the big three automakers:eek: .
I have a DELL laptop for everyday use and a PC at home and I have no problems with my system. However, I usually update my computers every 2 to 3 years.

LOL!!! :D

In my main rig I've got 6 fans for circulating air, not counting CPU, powersupply and vid card fans. No worries; ambiant case temp stays around 27c right now.

My HTPC is another matter. Trying to utilize min fans to cut down on noise. I have no case fans and just vent holes aswell as a fanless vid card. It's friggen quiet but to hot for my liking. I may add a low rpm 120mm fan.

Give it up, I have already tried and failed. I think he's more likely a lonely 16 year old looking for the right board. If it bothers you that much, there's always the ignore button.
