Dead Like Me

Has anyone seen this show? I saw it for the first time last week, a season finale. I was wondering how the five reapers came to be dead, and what the deal is with those troll like things that pop up on occasion. I hope someone could explain it to me.

George (she's the lead) was killed when a toilet seat from a space station fell out of the sky and hit her when she was walking downtown. Her reaper colleagues died separately, some many, many years earlier.

Those CGI monkeys are called gravelings, and they cause fatal accidents.

The show was filmed locally. I've recognized locations in Coal Harbour, North Van and Burnaby.
