i'll agree with one point the cut cats have made though, foreskin does make you jimmy extra sensitive (which spells pre-mature ejaculation) but that can be helped and gotten rid of.

Circumcision is barbaric and inhumane.

It's based on mythology and propaganda. I'm uncut and its not really difficult to keep clean. I just fold the foreskin back and wash it. Just that simple.

Well after not reading that propaganda I think i must say by being circumcised I was for ever scared, and a I feel naked , because apart of me is missing, I keep having this feeling of a phantom fore skin. And this obsessive cleaning my willy compulsive disorder. It must be the reason I have never had a meaningful and fullfilled sexual relation.
Well, LMAOROTF!

but mrpeternorth, how is it cleaner? if i wash my willy everyday it will be just as clean as yours, no?
It just is. I can shower, go about my day, and still have a completely odor-less and clean penis hours later because voila - I don't have a foreskin to pull back. Uncut dudes have a thing called smegma (and I'm not talking about that white stuff - that only happens if you let it accumulate and that's just gross). But once you shower and that foreskin goes back over, smegma is still there in it's clear form. And yes, no matter how clean you are it does have a certain odor. I wouldn't necessarily have called it an "offensive" odor, but it's an odor nonetheless. Now it's a complete non-issue obviously.

Smegma was made for the caveman days when showers and cleaning of oneself was not as readily available as we know it today. Now that this isn't the case in 2007 and everybody showers on a daily basis (sometimes more) smegma is generally useless.

That's not the point I made. I said overly sensitive foreskin, not head. The head has been just as sensitive before and after when it comes to sex - and that's what I enjoy the most! Most of these advocates believe (again - WOMEN that have never had or are ever going to have a penis) that once you get cut your sensitivity during sex is reduced to near nil and that you don't have the same "pleasures". This is a complete and utter crock of shit. My pleasure has only increased because of it.

Further peace of mind - many of friends happen to be "cut" as well. Not once have they ever come up to me and said, gee Peter North... I really really wish I was uncut.

Not to mention - you are now missing this wonderful little place where you can put your chewing gum to keep for a later time when you go swimming...

I can't remember if this has been talked about before but What do the ladies prefer, a circumcised penis or a turtle neck.
I like my clean an lean one but the that is what i lived with for the last 53 yrs , It just so easy to keep clean.
But I have noticed that alot of moms don't want there babies to be mutilated any more ,or be in pain , so it is not done that much any more.
I may be missing out on some things but what the dick does not no .....
So ladies which do you prefer?
Cut is ideal for me..because of hygiene. I prefer clean and i just like the way it looks better, but sometimes uncut is fun too.. if you're squeaky clean!

I have seen a circumcision on video. I would never subject my child to that torture.

thank you....

The video is very disturbing.....I can not understand how genital mutilation is allowed in a civilized country.....All us ladies would be crying foul if when we were babies our precious little clits were removed...... If as an adult a man wishes to do it then that is up to him,as adults what gives us the right to make decisions about something that does not belong to us.......It is cosmetic surgery and i dont believe in nose jobs and tummy tucks at 2 months of age......so why should genital alterations be acceptable.Religious reasons are of course exempt...

Wikipedia on pain during circumcision:

"Pain and pain relief during circumcision

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics' 1999 Circumcision Policy Statement, “There is considerable evidence that newborns who are circumcised without analgesia experience pain and psychologic stress.”[43] It therefore recommended using pain relief for circumcision.[43] One of the supporting studies, Taddio 1997, found a correlation between circumcision and intensity of pain response during vaccination months later. While acknowledging that there may be "other factors" besides circumcision to account for different levels of pain response, they stated that they did not find evidence of such. They concluded "[p]retreatment and postoperative management of neonatal circumcision pain is recommended based on these results." [55] Other medical associations also cite evidence that circumcision without anesthetic is painful. [56] [57]

Stang, 1998, found 45% of physicians used anaesthesia - most commonly a dorsal penile nerve block - for infant circumcisions. Obstetricians used anaesthesia significantly less often (25%) than family practitioners (56%) or pediatricians (71%).[58]

J.M. Glass, 1999, stated that Jewish ritual circumcision is so quick that "most mohelim do not routinely use any anaesthesia as they feel there is probably no need in the neonate. However, there is no Talmudic objection and should the parents wish for local anaesthetic cream to be applied there is no reason why this cannot be done."[23] Tannenbaum and Shechet, 2000, stated that an “authentic, traditional bris performed by a mohel does not use clamps, so there is no pain associated with crushing tissue.”[59] They also asserted that due to the speed of the procedure and rarity of complication, it is “more humane not to subject the infant to a local anesthetic.”[59]

Lander et al., found that babies circumcised without pain relief "exhibited homogeneous responses that consisted of sustained elevation of heart rate and high pitched cry throughout the circumcision and following. Two newborns ... became ill following circumcision (choking and apnea)."[2] A 2004 Cochrane review, which compared the dorsal penile nerve block and EMLA (topical anaesthesia) found both anaesthetics appear safe, but neither of them completely eliminated pain.[60] Razmus et al reported that newborns circumcised with the dorsal block and the ring block in combination with the concentrated oral sucrose had the lowest pain scores.[61] Ng et al found that EMLA cream, in addition to local anaesthetic, effectively reduces the sharp pain induced by needle puncture.[62]

Well, I guess no jew will stop circumcising his children just because it might hurt.

I wish they would use anesthetics.

...what a guy wants for himself...everyone should be entitled to sexual autonomy, so if you want to have yourself curcomsized- by all means pull out your Care Card- hey, is this covered Mr.peternorth?just wondering;) Anywho, I think that people's main issue is not weather being cut is "wrong", it's having the proceadure done at such a young age. IF I was a guy:rolleyes:, I don't think I would do it myself, because as stated before it's a form of mutalation IMHO...then again I have a belly ring, but that's modification via implant:confused: I digress! The option of doing this to oneself should be available & done in a sane, safe, sanitary manner & only to a consenting adult-period. As long as modifications of any sort are not debilitating etc. to each there own:)
No MSP no longer covers infant circumcision.

I think it is important to consider both sides and make an informed decision.

Sure is interesting to see both sides of the argument and each claiming the other opposing decision is influenced by propaganda.

Which begs the question if you agree with male circumcision what about female?

I know I know... devils advocate ;)

Well no shit sherlock... obviously circumcision is painful without anesthesia. Not every child getting circumcised is doing it straight-up by a Rabbi who then sucks the blood of the newborns penis to insulate the wound.

The dorsal nerve block is the most common method used. It is, I repeat, is NOT painful or barbaric. You don't feel a thing! How many of you ladies have been circumcised yourselves? Yah - that's what I thought - none. I'm very passionate about this and I'm disappointed so many of you are jumping to conclusions without looking at the BIG picture.

Personally I'm baffled by the people sacrificing a possible hour of pain (which is next to nil when done PROPERLY) for a lifetime of added pleasure. But by all means, continue your narrow-minded outlook and preach the word! Circumcision is BAD! It was so bad I decided to get it done. :p

For myself, it's about risks vs benefit. Unless there is a clear benefit to undergoing a procedure, especially one as invasive as surgery, I don't see the logic behind just doing it.

It seems that the medical community is equivocal on whether there is a benefit or not to leaving or removing the foreskin at birth. I take the view that the foreskin is likely there for a reason, so if there is no clear benefit to having it removed, then why do it? Now, there may be times when it's necessary, as Mr. North had it done as an adult, but I just haven't heard of a good one to doing it at birth.

If it's religious, then that the parents choice, I guess. I don't buy the cleanliness argument, as it really shouldn't be an issue; it's quite easy to wash the underneath. Unfortunately, we live in a pretty puritan society so we associate smells with "unclean" when it could just be natural.

Obviously I'm not advocating perfectly healthy guys to just go out and sliced... I just want to firmly voice the fact that should you decide to get it done, the procedure really is not as evil as so many people make it out to be.

Mine was done for more of a medical reason than merely just "doing it". But now that it is over, I really do not see what all the negative hype is all about. These same people who are probably staunchly against RIC probably think it's acceptable to neuter their dog. You're aware that that is technically "mutilation" as you chose to put it, right?

My goal is just to get people to be a bit more sensible about the whole issue. Some people will always thick-headed and naive, but maybe one or two people will at least look at this from a different perspective when all is said and done.

Are you replying to me? Because I never referred to it as mutilation. Invasive, yes, as it is breaking the skin.

Not directly... but I did want to make it clear that I didn't get it done just for the sake of getting it done. I read through as many blogs and personal stories from people who also had the procedure done as an adult to make more of an informed decision and I feel that I made the right decision and I'm going to stand by it :)
