Currency Withdrawal

I'm finally able to cross the border to visit some of my few favorite providers again.

I was wondering for all the others in my position whether they withdraw cash before or after arrival.

The first time was in Canada, but since there were ATM withdrawal fees and international fees I tried to switch to currency order for my bank.

However, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm worried what to say if I get asked about carrying so much cash with me.

So I was wondering what ya'll with more experience did. Any advice is appreciated, thanks

I've been using one of the two currency exchanges in White Rock...the rates are far better than either the US or Canadian banks and beats the ATM by a mile. I've carried over $1k USD on multiple occasions and have never been asked. If you're packing $10k, then you'd need to declare...a couple of grand is 'walk-around' money these days :)
As a side note, how are you answering the Arrive/CAN quarantine question?

Knightsbridge Foreign Exchange. It was on one of the Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank shows. I had a 17k US bill to pay. Opened a US funds account. Bill transfer to them on a Monday evening and had the US funds in my account Wednesday morning. .5% over the current exchange rate so saved me over $500 from doing it with the bank.
