For example I just purchased a tank of premium fuel for my car for the equivalent of $1.10 a litre CDN, after calculating the exchange range, in Blaine.

The aforementioned taco's (pork, fully dressed and with a slice of avocado on each) worked out to $1.62 each CDN, so a meal of 4 and a soda or water is less than $8. Not bad for very tasty street food. I don't consume a lot of dairy, so don't shop for dairy and am not familiar with the prices.

I sheepishly admit i'm not an avid shopper, so don't scour the shops for bargains in every category. somethings it's not the shopping, merely going somewhere different.

Two things will enhance your shopping value.

Use currency exchange shops for a decent exchange rates, and no fees.
Use coupons and sales flyers available on_line and at store entrances.​

Costco is not my favorite shopping experience, instead I prefer "Fred Meyer" stores, an affiliate of the giant U.S. chain "Kroger Co".
In Bellingham, the Lakeway Dr. store ( I-5 exit 253 ) seems friendlier ( better access, parking, & well staffed ).

Note, "select varieties" and "quantities are limited", as you would expect with genuine bargains.

Milk : $1.98/gal
Cheese: $2.99/lb
Cottage cheese : $1/lb
Ground beef [ 80/20 ] : $3.99/lb​

For beer and wine prices the Rite Aid Pharmacy chain is hard to beat.
There are 8 locations between the border and Bellingham.
Duty Free is probably your best bet for distilled spirits.

For gas prices check GasBuddy.com, and search using 'ZipCode' 98226.
The low_ball stations on Meridain St involve unpleasant traffic, instead check_out the several ARCO stations.

i goto the fred meyer on bakerview once a week. there are still some cheap deals to be found. plus they give you discounts on gas when you use there rewards card. got a 20 cent discount today and filled up for $2.43 a gallon. as for cheap gas i find that fred meyer and pilot in ferndale are the cheapest. arco's not so much.
