SP's asking a client to write a review or offering discounts in return for writing a review...
I keep reading references to SP's asking for reviews from their clients, or offering discounted sessions in exchange for a review.
I'm not surprised or chocked by this fact, but maybe a little by the fact that it's openly disclosed, even included with the review.
I would have thought this to be a No-No so I guess I was surprised noone has said anything...
I figured it would be kind of a indirect shill...no?
Asking someone you know you connected with to write a review you know will be favorable..? Or offering a discount upfront in exchange for a review you figure will probably be favorable for a session you know will be reviewed on.. Borderline paying off the judges or having a cheat sheet for a pop quiz you already knew about, no? lol
On the other hand, no one's hiding it.. It's mentionned up front and who better to write a review of how good one's services are/can be than someone who's really had a great time..
It's an honnest review and no one's making anything up so why not ask. A happy client would most likely be happy to help an sp get more business by his review.
But then again...
What if a lot of sp's head in that direction.. you'd have review after review of extatic satisfied clients..
We can all agree that reviews are one of the best forms of advertising for us but should we have this much control over who's writing reviews?
Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose?
Do that make them less valid? Or does it make no difference at all?
Like I said, judging by how quickly shill is usually called on this board, I was really surprised no one has commented on this... It got me thinking about the whole deal and I'm not sure if I think it's good or bad... or in between..
I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks... if anything!
