This made me feel really sad. A girl I grew up with and went to high school with was a victim of Robert Picton

I have worked in Las Vegas and all over Canada in many different ways, capacities, I've stripped, worked lounges, casinos, hotels, had ads in the paper, and on the Internet, lol. I have worked for agencies and massage parlors, and for myself. When I was real young, I even had a stint working on the street with a pimp. Now I have money saved, support my parents (my dads sick and my moms bad with money), and live in a condo near Stanley Park. I have owned several cars, whatever, have bought a $1200 pair of pants, whatever. After the olympics I will be buying a house and you are still a judgmental ass.
Whats your point ? Every man is a judgmental ass, I just admit it.

@the Meat Market!!!lol
"The real escorts are doing themselves a huge disservice by not clearly differentiating themselves from street dwellers."

I disagree with the above comment. Protecting, supporting and demanding respect for the worst off survival sex workers may be the best way to secure respect for the rest of the community. The well off sex trade workers would be unlikely to provide the support that the survival workers need if the well off see themselves as "clearly differentiated". If one part of the community is written off by another and is left twisting in the breeze then the whole community will be subject to the abuse that bigots and hypocrits think is appropriate for those worst off. Everything is connected.

The COOP hasn't decided how to deal with investment shares? How about just selling redeemable shares for now and guaranteeing 1 or 2 percent from a term deposit. No problem for either party and you can give the investors an opportunity to redeem the shares before you do anything else with the money. In the mean time you have an indication of community support.

I wonder about waiting untill you can open a legal Safe Work Site. How about a container that you drop at the side of the road overnight in the centre of the action. How about operating a supper club on a boat in federal jurisdiction. It should take a while for the bigots and hypocrits to figure out how to deal with those variations.

You have been blocked from directly challenging the harmful laws. How about starting a fund to support the affected or charged individuals who are needed to challenge the laws?

It all takes money. Are the well off members of this community willing to support the fight that will be needed to change things? Do they see their own interests at stake?
i love you!!! the hard part is i cannot decide on my own, i am their employee and all ideas must be voted on-

1 or 2% return -i cannot guarantee anything....what if it doesn't work....i have been offered money... but don't want to make promises i can't keep. the government and greater community should help us, they after all have created the environment which has allowed this to happen-

we as a community should also be supporting- the days of othering street workers as is we were outside of it some how should be over-

there is a legal fund and a charter challenge- the BC was lost because no active workers would step forward-pivot legal said they would defend the brothel and have a fund- the national challenge through osgood law school is on going partially because one active worker stepped up-me

i will be honest, i don't know what to do...it's fuckin depressing. we had hoped to raise money with the resturant/retail space as described in the proposal- building choices for the future-supper club- smokers- texas holdem-customer appreciation night-etc- you won't see those ideas in the proposal but we were just looking for support to open, nice and safe for government to support a cafe/restaurant- and then we would generate our own funding to open the safe work site...which could sustain itself also.

these were all the decisions that would have been made in the planning stages and we would have had experts from the greater community share their knowledge and expertise with us to ensure those decisions were informed...what happens if people want to redeem shares before we can afford to? it's gonna cost huge to open a restaurant never mind the safe work site...term investment...i guess i see what you mean...locked in right?

The idea of cafe is great, but reality might be that it can be a lot of headaches, and so easy to run afoul of the health dept requirements, cost of equipment, etc. Renting out the space for some other purpose (retail?) would be a lot less problematic.

More ideas

Thank you for the love but I may not deserve it. I am mostly obsessive/compulsive, intimidated by authority and trying to compensate.

If we have good ideas we should be able to find the suppoprt.

Accept the money for investment shares with an undertaking that it will simply be put in a bank account or term deposits. You pay 0 or 1% to the investors and collect a little bit more. Part of the undertaking is that the investors will have 3 or 4 months notice of any intention to invest the money otherwise. They will have time to redeem the shares and you will have the money available. Advance notice time and term deposit time need to match. There have to be some financial analyst clients out there who will help. Yes, you will have to keep the money safe at this stage.

Don't wait for the larger community or government to help. Take charge of the adgenda.

They told you to respect the law and work within the system. So you ask for legal changes or variances and you challenge the law in court. You could wait for legal changes way too long and they refused to hear a challenge of the law from anyone who chose to respect the law. What is wrong with this picture.

They make the rules and someone needs to break the laws to challenge them, so fine. The COOP may need to break the law or support some individuals who are willing to, or the experential group. Stage a violation of all the offending laws at once. Perhaps a married couple, or not, who decide to exchange money for sex. They get driven to a common bawdy house in a limo and declare their intention to the limo driver and the publican. You can make a mocary of the laws (and my spelling). It sounds like some of the needed support may already be in place.

I will lookup info on the national challenge through osgood law school. Thank you.

If you sell enough investment shares you may have a shot at the restaurant. The only vote the investors need is the ability to redeem shares. You can have various share accounts, first term deposits, then ask who will allow transfer to a more ambitious and risky account when you need the money for something more ambitious and risky. The bigger risks will be up to the membership shareholders who can vote.

The restaurant is asking for support and I think you could get it but step back a notch. Rather than asking, look again at demanding. The offending bylaws promote hatred against an identifiable group, one that engages in a legal activity, trading money for personal sexual services. Has anyone tried using the criminal laws against hate speech. You would not need an accused sex worker for that.

I need to have a closer look at all this later.

New Threads

Time for a few new threads I think.

First a business idea for the COOP. This should be more reasonable than my ideas above.
