Wow! To be fair though, he's one of the greatest coaches in the game at this time, it's just that he's outlived his stay in Vancouver and the players have more or less tuned him out... 7 years is a long time for any coach to be with 1 team. I just hope the Canucks get a damn good replacement.

yep. The message was getting old and his inability to properly deal with Bertuzzi made him look weak. He won't be unemployed long. He could go to Philly after Hitchcock gets fired. Hopefully Hitchcock doesn't come here though.

Pat Quinn.
I think that mistake won't be repeated. Remember the team is also in need of a president. Whomever fills that job may have influence over a decision regarding the coaching position

Crawford Canned!!!

I'm not surprised by this turn of events. Unfortunately I hope it doesn't mean Nonis will sit on the current group of slackers filling up the Canucks dressing room. As for Pat Quinn, it be a mistake to hire him here. We need a coach who can develop talent, not a member of the 'old boy's club'. We should be beating a path to Brent Sutter's door.

As much as I blame Crawford for the mess they're in, I also hope it doesn't mean Bertuzzi and a few others are going to stay.

It's not the coaching staff it's the owners!

The new %50 owners the Aquilini's are a bunch of f**ksticks. They are the ones destroying the team. They are a bunch of loser wannabe superfans, that like every superfan, think they know how to run a team, and thats just what they are going to do, run it into the ground!

I can't say how I know, but trust me they have messed with management, coaching staff and just about everything that was making the Canucks a great team. We are in for a long slow ride to the bottom of the standings. This year was our last shot at the cup for a very long time.

but who is it brian or brent sutter that coached the juniors?
It was Brent Sutter.

I think that firing Crawford was the right thing to do. After that many years it was time to make a change as his message was getting a little stale. He didn't seem to be able to motivate his players and the play of his special teams was mediocre. Hopefully it won't be the end of the moves as I think the Canucks still have a few player issues they need to sort out as well.

I'll bet that Alain Vigneault will become the next head coach of the Canucks. He was hired by Nonis to coach the Moose, where he has done a good job.

Yet he took the Habs nowhere. You Canuckleheads need a Sutter to steer that ship. Or Ted Nolan.

In a nice wet pussy!
He'll be back to haunt us, for sure. Toronto will pick him up now...

Looks like the candyass, know-nothing-about-hockey fuckwads are now fully in control. Nonis! What a pussy!

They'll throw an accountant behind the bench before too long, that fits the mold of the idiots that are ultimately responsible for the demise of this team.

Welcome to hockey micro-management Vancouver.

This is just a repeat of what happened in the late seventies... I had season's tickets back then; what a joke!

Hey!

Maybe they had to fire Crawford to free up some salary for Bertuzzi's big raise!
Look for Nonis to wear the coaching hat. It's the Canucks way! ;)

I think that Quinn is way too powerful a character to have his reigns held by a guy like Nonis. In all aspects-stature,character and in over-all hockey(from what he knows about the game to whom he knows in the game). The big Irishman would just be to dominant for Nonis to keep his job. Would not be a good hire for him to do if he wants to keep his job.
A Sutter would be a good and logical fit in this time and place, maybe even instill some work ethic back in some of these guys.

The way I see it, Crawford becomes the number one candidate to replace Quinn in Toronto so I would imagine that would make Paul Maurice very attractive to the Canucks

I' d like to see Ted Nolan behind the bench. He never got a fair chance in Buffalo. However after an 11 year hiatus from the NHL i wonder if hes still got the right stuff?
