"This is an old scam but they're getting better at it. I answered an ad on Craigslist in Kelowna about a luxury condo rental. The first dead giveaway revealing that it's a scam is that they're always out of town working on a new job and they can't be there to meet you in person. They do it all by email and sometimes will even provide you with a phone number so that you can talk directly to them. They are well versed and can provide you with so much info that they actually sound legit. The thing is, they ARE NOT legit. Since I was wise to the fact that I was dealing with a scammer, I decided to have fun with him. I led this guy on for over two weeks. I kept asking him stupid questions and kept asking for a reduction in rent. I asked him if I was allowed to have an orgy once a week because sixty of my close friends were swingers. I asked him if he would mind if my two St. Bernard's were allowed to use the Jacuzzi bath to bathe because their poop would probably stick to their fur after letting them defecate on the balcony. He kept agreeing to everything. All he wanted from me was to send him six months rent up front. I told him that I didn't trust email transactions and that I would only send him a certified check in the mail. Then I told him I was sending it by a secure carrier pigeon. At that point he told me to fuque off. Hilarious!
My advice is to ALWAYS be careful. These people are professional thieves and they're usually good at their job."

Yeah Craigslist scams are rampant and seem to go in phases, be careful.

I just had some great news I'd like to share though.
I was just advised by email that I've been left a huge, and I mean HUGE, inheritance from a relative I didn't know I had in Nigeria!!!
How great is that!!! :D
You too? Could we be related?
I've already wired my cheque to clear and cover the legal and administration charges. I should be getting my HUGE inheritance within 24 hours. Oh boy.

That's a funny post Lenny :thumb:

Weird thing is these too good to be true scams have been going on for a while now. One of the in calls I visited had a listing on CL for $650/mo (normally rented for $1350) which got a friend of mine very interested. He tried to meet the couple who were working ' as Ex Pats overseas' and they tried to get him to pay up in advance. Similar stuff back and forth. Eventually they just quit trying to squeeze him for $.

Thank you for this. I literally laughed out loud when I read it. I always enjoy toying with the "Windows" scammers myself. I start with, hey can you hang on a sec. I wander around the house for a few minutes then say, sorry, what were you calling about. I waste another 5 minutes booting the computer (it doesn't take that long). Ask them to explain everything they want me to do about 3 times...pretend to go answer the door, get another call. After all this I usually just tell them to get lost.
