"This is an old scam but they're getting better at it. I answered an ad on Craigslist in Kelowna about a luxury condo rental. The first dead giveaway revealing that it's a scam is that they're always out of town working on a new job and they can't be there to meet you in person. They do it all by email and sometimes will even provide you with a phone number so that you can talk directly to them. They are well versed and can provide you with so much info that they actually sound legit. The thing is, they ARE NOT legit. Since I was wise to the fact that I was dealing with a scammer, I decided to have fun with him. I led this guy on for over two weeks. I kept asking him stupid questions and kept asking for a reduction in rent. I asked him if I was allowed to have an orgy once a week because sixty of my close friends were swingers. I asked him if he would mind if my two St. Bernard's were allowed to use the Jacuzzi bath to bathe because their poop would probably stick to their fur after letting them defecate on the balcony. He kept agreeing to everything. All he wanted from me was to send him six months rent up front. I told him that I didn't trust email transactions and that I would only send him a certified check in the mail. Then I told him I was sending it by a secure carrier pigeon. At that point he told me to fuque off. Hilarious!
My advice is to ALWAYS be careful. These people are professional thieves and they're usually good at their job."
