Craiglist on ABC News

Reporting on ABC news Sunday May 21st @ 11:00PM.

There was a sting last Thursday in Everett, Washington where police contacted escorts who advertise on Craigslist and arrested them. (They didn't eloborate exactly how this was done.) When ABC news interviewed Craig Newmark the founder of Craigslist and questioned him on why he allows this type of advertising on his site he said, " 'there is nothing illegal with this type of advertising.' He also said the 'site is governed by those who advertise and the only way posts get removed is if someone complains and he says hardly anyone complains.' "

I have a feeling in Washington the law is really going to be watching CL's site from now on. I would expect more stings in the future, but thats Washington State and the moral majority have yet to remove the rafter from their eye.

I wonder if heats applied down South what repercussions will be felt North of the border if any? Anyone see this news broadcast and have any thoughts?

I did not see the report.

I guess if the CL site ever had a problem and was taken down that could affect the Vancouver site.

Other than that, the USA can do as they wish.

Canadians should do likewise.

More notoriety...

More traffic to his website...

More traffic to Perb by osmosis...

More advertisers, therefore more revenue...

More scrutiny by law enforcement...

If today hadn't been a holiday, a few people would've talked about it with their co-workers. But, since most people are off today, pretty much no one will remember by tomorrow.

In the U.S. however, it'll be different. A few determined busy bodies will talk about the show they saw last night about women whoring themselves on ebay. They didn't see the whole thing, because they were making the kids' lunches, but...

Everyone will agree that this is terrible and shocking and that they can't believe the world we live in. A few guys will make a mental note to check the site.

That'll be the net effect.

Slow times down there!

Must be a slow month down in the states. How are they ever going to get rid of the oldest profession in the world? They might be trying to scare or stop the underaged girls from advertising on the list, which is great but they'll find another avenue. CL with all its' faults is still a entertaining place to search for whatever sparks your plug. IMHO there are some good gems out there to be found.

Ya.....And I'm sure there's also alot of Phoney's who Advertise there as well!!! I've read quite a few threads on here ( PERB ) who wonder alot about the phoney pics and all!!! I don't trust that site....I'll stick with With site ....perb...at least you have website...and reviews....that you can go by!!!
