Not in Canada it isn't. Unfortunately the only focus of the criminal justice system in Canada is rehabilitation. In fact, the sole focus of the criminal justice system should be on protecting society from criminals. Rehabilitation should be seen as one method of achieving that, not as the sole purpose of the system. In some cases rehabilitating the offender is the best way to protect society. In other cases removing the offender from society is the best way to protect society. The judges in this country simply fail to understand that some people need to just be locked away to keep them from committing more crimes against innocent victims.
They've had plenty of time to deal with violent, chronic assholes like this, but instead waste their time worrying about who's growing 6 pot plants, or taking medical marijuana or willingly exchanging money for sex.

I suggested she find the date of his next court appearance(where the sit-down-to-piss-judge will let him out)and hire some muscle,eg 2-3 bikers to form a welcoming
committee when he steps outside.

People like this have serious mental problems; it's amazing he's gotten away with this behaviour for so long. He deserves to be locked up, pending trial. This second charge actually stems from another incident, previous to the attack on the surveillance video that's gone viral.

Could this guy ever get a job again? The name Byron Hobbs is out there now for all to see forever tied to this. Whatever the court decides his name is dirt and I hope this follows him the rest of his life. Hopefully a big chunk of that life will be sitting in a cell being forced to suck dick.

The guy obviously needs a psych evaluation. If his motive wasn't robbery and only to assault someone then it's clear he has some frontal lobe anger management issues.
