Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I am wondering how Covid is affecting everyone's plans for the upcoming Christmas?
Here in MB we ae in lockdown til January 8th. No gatherings with people who do not redside in the same household, so most people will be keeping to themselves.
For me it will be very quiet. Christmas Eve I will walk over to my cousin's house for a socially distanced galss of scothch. We always have a couple together at the family Christamas Eve party, one of us hosts evey year, except this year.
I'll see my daughter on Christmas morning but Christmas Eve she will be with her Mom and Christmas day with the BF and his parents. I am going to go over and see my parents Christmas morning but will not go in the house. Just stand in the back yard and have a brief chat from 10 yards away. They are both in their late 80's so there is no way I am going to risk their health.
No use cooking a turkey so going to actually do Cornish hen with wild rice stuffing.
It will be very strange this year but it is what it is and I hope to make the best of it.
Hopefully we will get to celebrate Christmas in July with all of our families.
Cheers
J

Christmas day around 1230pm PST, I'm Zooming with my 3 kids who are all over. Had to make it afternoon so I could feel righteous sipping a couple single malts, chatting and having some laughs. It's a different Christmas for sure and may be 'different' for some time to come but we all just make the best of it.

Merry Christmas all!!

That looks good. I've never had Irish Whiskey. It might be time to give it a try.
Cheers

Ah, a potential Irish Whiskey fan!

Our esteemed fellow pooner so astutely noted the Black Bush, arguably one of the more delicious of the Irish Whiskeys. But if you are starting out sampling this nectar of the druids, may I suggest Tullamore D.E.W. as a great starting point. A mild, warm whiskey to brighten the pallet. As you move forward, try one of the pot still whiskeys, more full and maybe more in your face but as delicious nonetheless. Red Breast 12 or 15. And back when I was traveling regularly to old Belfast, the lads introduced me to the Slane. Not sure if we can get it here but it may have been one of the reasons I learned to appreciate how an Irish Breakfast helps to recover from the night before.

Enjoy.

Sir Jethro you my lad are in for an incredible introduction which I may ad will tease
you to complete the road to wonderful Irish Whiskey's.
I would also go along with our..........ahemm, esteemed druid fellow pooner.
( Take a bow dear Sir, master p hunter). LOL!! for the unadulterated advice
of starting out to test the waters of the amazing and delicious world of Irish Whiskeys
with Tullamore D.E.W. Marvelous suggestion.

Tullamore D.E.W. is fanciful and delicious with aromas of heather and honey to
tantilize, (Now theres a name I haven't heard in awhile. Tantalize me. LOL!!)
and entice the pallet of the most serious whiskey drinker there would be.
That one would be an excellent choice to start your journey with.

Move on to the others as you see fit. A whole new world awaits Ye, fellow Irish
drinker to be!

Cheers laddy!!

Btw, thanks for the kudo's there Master P hunter.

And Nay the lore of fore where an uneducated Irish whiskey
drinker would tease by throwing in a "couple of rocks" into good Irish whiskey. o_O

Never ruin a good drink by spoiling it by putting anything into it.
The only thing that goes into good Irish Whiskey is the glass you pour it into.;)(y):giggle:
If you want it chilled.
Put the glass in the freezer for 10 minutes. Now your enjoyin' lad.

BTW, if any of you whiskey drinkers ever come across a program that was on the
history channel a few years back it was called "Modern Marvels" they did a
one hour show on the making and distilling of fine whiskey's from the North of
Scotland to thru Ireland. And the Jim Beam and Jack Daniels distilliers of America.
If you can locate it Watch it as it is fascinating.

Cheers again all!!

Thank you both for your wonderful suggestions.
I am looking forward to a visit to my local liquor store this afternoon once I wrap afew things up at work.
Today is my 60th Birthday. If I'm going to be alone (well, me and my cat, LOL!), I am fortunate enough to be spending it being introduced to a new pleasure.

Happy Birthday! and welcome to the 7th decade.
Came across a delightful Yule Log Fire thing. Just a manly man, Nick Offerman, sitting in a comfortable man's manchair enjoying a whiskey.
