Maybe they will cure cancer if they do enough research on cancer? Who the fuck am I kidding, if the smartest doctors have not cured cancer, than what chance do they have with covid-19; let alone what after effect the virus has on individuals.
The problem is that cancer research is about funding and keeping the funding to keep the researchers employed; and there is no general master plan for all the research clinics and laboratories to eliminate and test every possible scenario. In other words all the cancer research is unorganized and sporadic. And the research in some clinics/organizations are classified/or considered trade secrets.
Research into the Covid-19 will only go so far; again following the model for cancer, certain areas will be looked at and others not tried at all.....

It's a poor comparison. There are lots of different cancers and, mutations aside, one Covid-19 virus.

Obviously there is no cure for the common cold. Just like the Corona Virus.
The answear for Cancer for the last 60 years is chemotherapy. Again profit by the chemical/pharma companies. There have been some research into using white blood cells to multiply outside body, and inject a large amount back in to fight the cancer (using own immune system). But that has been out of the news for a couple of years, it is mentioned in a Netflix doc done on a book. Emperor of all Maladies.
Back to Covid. Its changing its own structure (mutating). The best I can see is a flu shot that contains dead Covid virus, so the body can recognize it, and fight it. That is supposed to happen in 2021.

When you think about it for a minute, it affects your lungs which gets oxygen in your blood. Not enough oxygen in brain blood, could do some damage to the brain. Or it could be the virus itself is attacking parts of the brain... not enough research or autopsy.
