Rage Against The Machine's final album was all killer covers of various rock, punk and hip-hop tunes. The best ones are "How I Can Just Kill A Man" (Cypress Hill), "Ghost of Tom Joad" (Bruce Springsteen) and "Renegades of Funk" (some rap group)

Robin Trower did a great cover of Hendrix's "Manic Depression".

Pearl Jam did a live cover album, some of my fave's were a cover of Johnny Cash's "25 minutes to go" and Bob Dylan's "Master's of War".

I seen Eric Clapton do a live cover of "Little Wing" and a Diddley cover of "Before you accuse me". LOVE that 12 bar blues!

Jeff Beck also did a GREAT cover of the Beatles' "A Day in the Life"

Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" by Three Days Grace
I like Three Days Grace a lot but I wasn't aware of this one. Thanks for pointing it out! Have you heard the Stone Sour version? It's great too!

Pretty much any sony Led Zeppelin covered (which is like almost half of their stuff). I'm not even too familiar with many of the original versions but I'm sure Zeppelins must be better because they are all just so damn good. In particular I do like their Ben E King cover of We're Gonna Groove.

A lot of my favorites have been posted, and there are other ones I will have to look up that I have not yet heard.

The one I really like, that has not been mentioned already is

"Working Class Hero" done by Green Day (originally John Lennon)

I probably have the unpopular opinion, but I actually think I like the cover better than the original (not taking anything away from the original though)

Actually many covers are better than the original. IMO Jimi's "All Along the Watchtower" is superior to Bob Dylan's version. Some are just different and some butcher the original. It's a crap shoot really

Romeo and Juliet

I love the original Dire Straits version of the song:

But recently heard this cover by The Killers and think it's very good as well:
