If you've got mucous and a sore throat, brewing hyssop and clove will help. Hyssop is a natural expectorant, so it gets the mucous out, and clove has a natural anesthetic property to help lessen the irritation in the throat. As for chicken soup.... dunno.... never tried making it. Hope you are feeling better soon....

Roll a joint. Smoke it. Go on a munchies fest. Next day you'll still be sick but at least you'll know you had fun. :)

What a difference an "O" makes.

Morrigan means Mucus not Mucous.

The mucous membranes cover many of our internal organs, including our nostrils.

Mucus is the secretion of the lining of these various membranes in the body. Mucus aids in the protection of the lungs by trapping foreign particles that enter the nose during normal breathing. Additionally, it prevents tissues from drying out.

Increased mucus production in the respiratory tract is a symptom of many common diseases, such as the common cold. The presence of mucus in the nose and throat is normal, but increased quantities can impede comfortable breathing and must be cleared by blowing the nose or expectorating phlegm from the throat.

this is a nice recipe I use and easy to make:

buy some chicken ... thighs are good ... can be skinned/de-boned or not.

buy some of the following:

leeks
white or red onion
potatoes
frozen peas
carrots

preheat frying pan or grill
fry chicken, both sides, until done -- you can use whatever spices and salt you want on the chicken -- I like Kraft Sundried Tomato and Oregano Collection Series Salad Dressing ... just the right amount of spice and seasoning (20-30 minutes total)

while that's cooking
wash all the veggies except onion
with the leeks, you will have to toss outer layer and take the rest apart to get the dirt out.

cut up everything to a size you like

put about 2 quarts ... 3 litres of water to boil NO SALT just water.

add potatoes, carrots, leeks and onions ... turn down heat to a simmer and cover.

let cook for about 20 minutes or until things are starting to get soft.

add peas and make sure it keeps simmering

while that is happening, remove skin from chicken (if necessary) and remove from bone (if necessary) and chop up.

when the veggies just start getting nice and cooked, add the fried chicken
and now add the salt and any spices you like.

let simmer for another 20 minutes or so or until the leeks are throroughly cooked.

this stuff does freeze very well and always tastes better the next day ...

Basic ingredients for one that I came up with

Chicken chunks (skin off)
sliced carrots
sliced celery
rice
bay leaf
salt & pepper (to taste)
a touch of basil
water (of course, but depending on your likes, can be seasoned with a tablespoon of Hon Dashi, Japanese Bonito soup base)

Once the concoction boils, quickly reduce the heat and cook on mid to low heat (don't want a rolling boil which creates a cloudy broth due to the liquifaction and coagulation of proteins from the chicken) and slow cook it until the veggies and chicken are tender.

If you're not in the mood to cook (who is when you're under the weather?), try The Stock Market in the Granville Island Public Market. Fresh soups made daily. There's always 3 soups on: a vegetarian, a meat, a seafood. Their chicken soup is pretty good, and they've got a pretty good selection of others, as well as sauces.

If you ask, I would deliver ;-)
