Justice Minister Peter MacKay says draft legislation that could ease federal marijuana laws, such as allowing police to ticket people caught with small amounts of pot instead of charging them, is under "serious consideration."

this will certainly take away one election issue from the other parties.

IMHO its about time simple possession either became legal or at a minimum decriminalized. Too many people have had their lives screwed up by having a simple possession conviction in their records.

Absolutely. The Liberals will not be pleased.

Yes they are proposing something that will make possession legal but they are also proposing changes that will make it tougher to grow your own and they are just driving that part of the industry back to the criminal element.
and who has the manpower to enforce, 'changes that will make it tougher to grow your own...'?

never pass a law that you won't be able to enforce

What they propose doing is changing the current situation where police do nothing when they find small amounts to one where the police do something (issue a ticket).

They are not relaxing, they are finding more efficient ways to punish a wider range of people.

That is what conservatives are all about - punishing people (except themselves, friends and family of course - those groups are untouchable, or should be).

Such is the mindset of conservatism. My way of life is the right way of life, and anyone who lives some other way should be punished.
