i am an Oiler fan. born and raised. i am forced to tip my hat to you lucky fans in Calgary. you guys have the team we wish we had here. you have a legitimate 7.5 million dollar superstar and the hardest working team the NHL has seen these playoffs.

it is tough to cheer for you guys, but i have to admit that Iggy won me over. after seeing him go out and fight Ohlund in round 1 (in a meaningless loss) and then go straight at "HatchIdiot" (in another meaningless loss), he earned my respect as a fan of the game and simply as a tough guy.

as much as it pains me to say it, i hope you win the cup. your 35 million dollar team eliminated that overpaid bitch Cujo(ie. no other goalie has more playoff games played without a cup than him and he has been cursed ever since he sold out the Oilers to "supposedly" win a cup in Toronto and "ahem" Detroit) and his 75 million dollar teamates. bonus, you guys eliminated the Canuckleheads in 7th heaven overtime at the Garage (nice touch to really boot the Vancouver fans in the balls).

it still pains me in some jealous way that you have the team that the Oilers "are supposed" to be every year, ie. the bargain basement giant-killer that magically wins a cup.

good luck against the sharks and hope you Calgary boys enjoy the playoff ride,

your envious friend in Edmonton, IceG.

ps. i hope this message helps you Calgary guys realize we are not all trailer park rednecks up here. you guys have a great team that epitomizes the plain fact that teamwork, guts, heart, and determination will always kick the shit out of overpaid, "more-talented" pansies. i like to believe some of us are semi-classy rednecks in Edmonton.

Too far from Edmonton MP's now
Having lived in both towns for a time, but now back in Texas, Calgary and Edmonton are both very different sports towns. I think Edmonton has a lot more passion for their teams, but Calgary has some very good fans, and it was always fun to be an impartial observer of the rivalries. I also tip my hat to the flames, and hope they continue to move on in the playoffs. I had the pleasure of meeting Iginla when I was in Calgary and he is a class act - Alberta should be very proud of one of their own.

Thanks for the support - this town is going crazy. It's almost as much fun as the Battle of Alberta games through the 80's - some of the best hockey ever played.

Go Flames

Calgary just made it into the cup

with tonites win, they basically have made it to the cup. i cannot see them losing 2 in a row at home, so at worst, they go up 3-1 going back to san j and i can't see them losing 3 in a row thereafter. not with the way Kipper bounces back after a loss.

so, i proclaim Calgary is now going to get a chance to win the cup. again, enjoy your party down there.

more breasts if they get into the cup

well the series got to Calgary up 3-2, but not the way i thought it would. at least, they have 2 kicks at it and they have no excuses if they blow it now.

ps. you think you have seen a "titty show" in downtown calgary, imagine what it is going to be like when they get into the cup..

the warmer and farther they go in the playoffs, the more boobs flashed after each game.

calgary v tbay, i am fairly sure no one has that bet in vegas for the cup.

count your chickens and go look at the titties downtown. i called it although calgary slipped, they didn't fall.

good move by sutter in having them all stay in a calgary hotel last nite to mimic a road game preparation.

Calgary beat the first place team in each division in the west. if they beat tbay, they will have truly earned the title as champions as they go after another number 1 seed.

Calgary in 6

i have to give the call to Calgary in 6 games. they have been so good on the road in the playoffs that it is a huge benefit for them to open up on the road.

kind of sad for Oil fans, but Calgary is going to get another cup.

on the side note, i can live with Tbay winning as they only have a 40 million dollar budget and this includes 6 million to Khabibulin.

so, you have to figure that you can win a championship with a 40 million "salary" cap.

i think calgary wins tonite 3-1 as there is so much pressure on the home team in game 1 at home and this sometimes backfires and leads to over-preparation... but we shall see.

E-Town
Kudos to Calgary for the wild post-game street parties where women flash their body parts and everyone has a great time. If it was the Oilers in the same position, would Edmonton be as celebratory, or allowed to be?

When Canada won the hockey gold at the Olympics, every major city but one partied in the streets. The one city where people weren't allowed to celebrate in the streets is...you guessed it...E-town. Thanks to that riot a while back, the cops sealed off Whyte after that win. There's a good reason why outsiders call us Deadmonton. Embarrassing.

i get to gloat

damn i was almost 100% until simon scores the 4th goal with 15 seconds left.

well, it is really tough to call in game 2 because if Calgary wins, they win the cup tonite much the same as they got up in San jose, but they did dominate that first game.

i think i have to say in game 2 that tampa wins it, 3-2 in overtime. i think Torterella is too good a coach not to make some adjustments to get his forwards a little more space.

but i think it is going to be a close one tonite.

not as close as i thought, but closer than 4-1 because calgary just started gooning tbay and taking those 2 man disadvantages. i have no problem with sending a message for the next game.

back to tonite. i have to go with Calgary to win tonite 3-2 and that should lead to quite the party on 17th ave

calgary is going to be the first Cup winner to beat 4 teams with more than 100 regular season points.

tbay only has a 40 mill payroll as well and they have alot of talent for those dollars.

sutter is keeping with the winning tradition of having his team go to a hotel in Calgary to simulate the road preparations and try to have them keep focus tonite.

i have to go with Calgary tonite. 3-2 since i tried that last time and i think tbay might actually score tonite.

SG. hard to say kipper does not have talent if you have been watching him play. he might still win the Conn Smythe and will for sure if he gets another shutout. he stopped Richards on the breakway when it was 0-0 in the last game and calgary scores like 2 minutes later, that was the most important save of the game.

40,000 people on 17th ave, good party work calgary.
