I thought condom distribution has improved to where access is not an issue. Also condom use has always been the default for me.

Could be birth control pills, maybe they're taking prep, morning after pill. Not to mention people who know the ovulation cycle better than previous generations so they know they can go in without a rubber on certain days of the month...etc

This isn't a worry abouta rise in pregnancies. It's more so for the risk and rise of STIs....

Definitely a troubling trend, dunno how so many people just thru common sense out the window when it comes safe sex practise

Teens. Good luck getting common sense there. Let's not also forget that so much antivax, antimask ideology has made it into people suddenly becoming apathetic towards basic hygiene like washing hands, and it possibly influencing people that since masks don't work 100% therefore condoms won't either. It's the same mentality that you can take a pill that kills sti infections, such as pep, same people saying who cares if you catch covid there's invectermin.

The explosion of influencer culture, tiktok etc… seems to be making a portion of young people as stupid as a bag of hammers. A while ago it was some asshole telling kids that sunscreen causes skin cancer, and it became a widespread belief among teens and young adults. I’m sure there’s some “bareback challenge” floating around out there.

I’d bet good money that the source of all this sort of shit is trolls in Russia or China thinking of new and creative ways to disrupt western societies. Make the kids distrust actual science, feed em nonsense and see what happens. Presto, a rise in STI’s, melanoma and who knows what else among an increasingly ignorant population. Thanks Vladimir

Who knows I wouldn't go as far as that being the doing of Russia and China, or even Israel for that matter. I think people have become outright skeptics of all science as a result of so much misinformation of the science and now everyone is dismissing everything.

Despite how some older guys from the older generations on here tend to criticize and harbor some strange resentment toward younger ones, the data indicates that Gen Z and Millennials actually have significantly higher IQs than Gen X and Baby Boomers. Additionally, research suggests that older generations are more prone to believing propaganda and misinformation.

I understand that you may have witnessed a young person doing or saying something dumb online at some point. However, this behaviour isn't limited to just younger generations, and it represents a selectively biased sample of what’s out there.

Regarding the article you're discussing, which it seems you didn't actually read, the numbers haven't changed significantly. It's not solely a matter of "people being dumb"; there are various other factors that can explain the situation as well. This article would be classified as "clickbait" which old guys seem to fall for alot.

The only advantage the new gens have are modern meds & home test kits to combat diseases. No surprise of the generations now watching porn as young as they can type in google , growing up in the mid 80s/90s , AIDS was hammered into my (our ) brains , between that and
MADD I’ve never drunk and drive and have always been worried about STDs & HIV . That fear just isn’t there anymore .
