I remember reading this story last year.. Poor guy. The worse part of it too, is that the article I read at the time also included that she claimed she no longer had any of the money and was forced to file for bankruptcy. That story also claimed she had not been in the Domincan Republic with her family (obviously) but had been there with her husband or boyfriend! If I remember correctly, it seemed that the two of them had either spent all of the guy's money or that the husband/boyfriend had stolen it from her.

It's also possible she wasn't expecting to get arrested entering Canada and that he had simply stayed behind waiting for her to return to Jamaica after her visit home. Since she did get arrested and was not able to return, presumably the money would be his. Who knows...but the bottom line is the poor man won't ever see a dime of his money back. I hope she never manages to get her hands on it again either.

That girl has to be a sociopath, there's no way a normal person could do what she did. As for him believing what she was telling him, I agree with Jasmine that he must have been very lonely but in my opinion she was probably VERY good at manipulating. Put all of those things together and he stood little chance of not falling for it. People who don't have a conscience and therefore no genuine emotion getting in the way of their thinking, have a huge advantage over anyone they prey on and they know how to use their prey's emotions to their advantage.

It's a mistake to assume there's no way you'd ever fall for a trap like this. Maybe not this particular scenario but everyone has their weaknesses and people like her only need a tiny opening..and once they're in, you'll never see it coming but when it's over you'll be flat on your ass. Only then will you start piecing it together and realize the signs were all there and pretty obvious. But these people are so good, you don't see it while it's happening.

Just think Earl Jones. Sociopaths are the most charming, likeable, seemingly honest and trustworthy people. That's how they get what they want. A really fascinating book about these kinds of people (apparently 1 in 25 people are sociopaths) is The Sociopath Next Door by clinical psychologist Martha Stout. It's pretty disturbing. The particularly sad part of this story is that stories like this make men wary of engaging in any kind of real relationship with an SP.

Oh come on, look at that guy! How could he seriously think that an sp who is probably young enough to be his daughter, and presumably is relatively attractive, is going to fall for him and it wasn't about the money?

And just when I was all prepared to not like you LOL - well said and right on the money bro.....
Krustee, of course you can have a relationship with a SP. I realize it's foreign to you dude so I wanted to offer you some advice on how to do it & be happy

1. Try not to ask an SP to meet you at some coffee shop or Denny's to circumvent her security.

2. Don't blog about how fucked up people are who frequent the sex trade while you're an addict in your own right

3. Fitness is your friend. Almost all SP's hate short, fat, bald dudes.

Krustee me lad this is where you need to take hold of your balls and take a deep breath. A sociopath has no ethics or common decency. In all likelyhood the REAL perpetrator in this lil scenario is a ruthless pimp/husband/boyfriend who has been using the girl from childhood. I understand your frustrations about how you feel things SHOULD be but all your ranting is reminiscent of the wife who claims she could be happy if only her drunk ass husband would go to AA and be normal. If your happiness depends on behavioral changes in another human being then you are, in a word, nuts. Advocate for changes in the law and you'd get support. Advocate for changes in human nature and you get the echoing sound of laughter from your comrads in the loony bin.
Totally agree with ya here al, just sayin' that regardless of how gullible or even down right stupid this guy was or is - she is still a cunt for taking advantage of him.

It's this little thing called -
ETHICS
Common Decency
Integrity
Compassion

I know for some on here those are strange words but honestly, if you put them into practice you will find that others will appreciate you for it.

Sad story.

Unfortunately many men can substitute the word wife for SP and it's the same story, especially if said man married someone from a second or third world country, or someone who is both attractive and 20+ more years younger than him. Essentially it boils down to the fact that if you think it's too good to be true, sad to say that it probably is.

On the flip side, only an idiot would think an attractive 20 something hottie would be interested in him for any other reason but money, if he's far less attractive and considerably older than her. If one doesn't learn anything in their teens, they learn where they stand in the pecking order with respect to dating hotties, and for the most part that doesn't change much through life.

Hey doodle, for those of us who aren't a rentboy/driver/security/genius, could you explain the scientific mumbo jumbo behind how fitness makes you tall with a full head of hair?

I must be doing those knee bends all wrong.

I thought it was pretty awful that somebody could do that to another. Surprised - no.

It's not just a reflection of this hobby, although I'm sure this amplifies it to a great extend, it's also just a fact of life.

The obvious times are going to be when you marry someone 20 years younger than you and drop dead gorgeous, the less obvious times are going to be when some woman is thinking to themselves, he's not really what I'm looking for but if it doesn't work out he's got a fair amount of $$$. Because if you think getting taken for a ride by an SP is expense, getting married and being taken for a ride is usually far more expensive.

Buddy, it happens ALL the time in this biz!

Maybe not to the scale of this particular story but I know of at least 3 guys who were taken for over $20,000 in the course of a year by a gal who saw them as a 'mark'.

In each case the SP feigned affection & friendship with the dude & sucked out as much money as possible.

In two of the cases the SP encouraged the dude to use his credit card for cash advances & purchasing things she wanted until he was completely tapped out.

Once the money ran out the SP's disappeared & cut off communication.

These guys were both financially & emotionally destroyed after they finally realized their folly.

I am sure this happens several times a month in this city alone.

Sad but true fact for this hobby.

I think he knew all along he was being used.
But probably hoped it would go on longer....maybe cheaper. Cause he still enjoyed time with her.

But I don't see the point of any legal action. Won't he have to prove he had no idea he was being tricked.
What judge would believe it.

I agree, and very well articulated.

Even if the woman once loved you, she can want a life that you don't want or may resent the time your career consumes or the danger that your career puts the family into.

I know quite a few military, police and firefighters. Very many are divorced. Women think they can handle it, think that it's romantic to be married to someone that is serving society. What they find is that he isn't around at times that are important to her.

It's the same with many other careers that are performance driven. She may have thought all that money is wonderful, but she then found that she either travelled with him and had no career of her own or she spent much of her time alone.

It's not always because the "evil bitch" wanted the guy's money. Often, she simply didn't know what was involved.

In the specific case that this thread is about - it was never reasonable for the guy to think that she was anything other than an SP.
