A quick question for any computer nerds here.

When I'm done using my computer, I need to: Delete my Cookies; Temporary Files and History. I know how to do this (Tools..Internet Options, etc).

I am wondering if there is a Macro that could be created so that it does it automatically when I shut down my system (in case I forget).

Other people use this computer and I want to ensure that it's "cleansed" of where it's been when they use it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also make sure your history is set to 0 days and like it was suggested have your own log in although that might be hard to explaint o a snooping SO

One way
IE 8

Tools | Internet Options | Browsing History | "Delete browsing history on exit"

Or use password protected profiles, but in some situations this could be viewed as being sneaky

Download FireFox v3.5 which was released a few days ago.

Firefox 3.5 introduces a private browsing option–often called a “porn mode” and usually touted by browser companies as having many other uses, such as letting you hide the holiday shopping you’re doing for your family or borrow a friend’s browser without messing up his or her history.

It’s largely similar to its counterparts in Chrome, IE, and Safari, except that Firefox closes all your open tabs when you begin to browse privately, then restores them when you’re done.

I use a program called Window Washer - every time you restart the computer, it erases past browsing history.

Adding programs won't help! This will use up disk space and memory. And when other people use the computer and notice a difference in performance, things start falling out.

If you want to risk using Internet Explorer 8, it has a privacy surf option that removes everything after you close IE (I think the nickname for this option is Porn Explorer". However the program is new and sure to have a lot of bugs.

Firefox also has a "clean all tracks" option.

IE 8 is stable and the "In Private Browsing" function works as advertised. I have been using Ccleaner for years and it does an excellent job of removing all sorts of crap including temp Internet files, temp files, cookies, browsing history, document cache etc. It is a tiny program that takes up almost zero room on the hard drive. It can also be automated, the problem is it cannot be automated stealthly. It will pop up at startup, before minimizing itself to the system tray, thus alerting others you are trying to hide something. Unless you want to use it manually, using IE8 or Firefox to their designed function levels should solve your issue.
I still think that when there are multiple users on a single puter, password protected profiles should be implemented. Every user has their own private secure area of the computer. You as the admin can control your kids passwords, downloading rights etc, while still being able to monitor their activities and they get to customize the look of their own profile. JMHO

I appreciate all of the responses...

I have since upgraded to IE8 and have looked at the "deleting" all history when exiting. The only thing is that I've noticed that the temp files still remain if I go check "settings" under browsing history; then go to "View Files", they are still there !

I will take a look at CCleaner...

Any other ideas would be appreciated.
