...ok guys and gals, any computer experts out there? I'm trying to open/save a PDF file that was e-mailed to me. I've tried to both open the attachment and save it, without success.

The 'file download' screen pops up and it just keeps saying 'getting file information'. The animation shows the paper flying into the file folder but 'estimated time left', 'download to', and 'transfer rate' sections just remain blank.

I can leave this task on ad infinitum; nothing is ever opened or saved. It's just a small text file of a purchase invoice, but I really need to open it. :(

You have Adobe Reader right?

Hopefully you've downloaded Adobe Reader (it's free) it reads PDF files.

Yes, I have the latest version. Tried several times over the last couple of days to open the file...but, no go.
Forward it fo someone else that you know and see if they can open it. If they can't, then you know the file is corrupt.

It sounds like there's something wrong with your email provider if it just hangs on trying to save it to your disk. It's a process of elimination..have you tried downloading other attachments? does that work too? If not, it's your provider...

If you can download no problem other attachments, then that's just weird. Try getting your friend to send it to another email account and see what happens there.

I have another e-mail account with another provider. Totally forgot about it as I never use it. Just forwarded my invoice to that address...and there it was! Opened up right away...perfect. Thanks for the ideas! :)
