I accidentally hit the little "Word" icon at the top of the IE browser window while I was in PERB.

Now Word has saved a page of PERB... ON MY PARENTS' COMPUTER!!

Every time I open Word, there is a file "showthread.php"

How can I get rid of it?

Help! I'm toast if I don't get this deleted!

Start > Search > For Files or Folder

Search for Files or folders named:"showthread.php"
Look in: Local Harddrives

Delete all instances.

THEN in the IE Menu

Tools > Internet Options

Click on [Delete Cookies]
and [Clear History]

Finally, Empty the Recycle Bin

Thanks for your help guys! I actually tried that first thing, but every time I opened Word again, that stupid link would rear its ugly head under "New Document --> Open a Document"

I ended up opening up a few existing word documents, which seems to have pushed the link far enough down the list that it is no longer accessible.

Here's hoping that all traces of PERB will be gone from the computer once I clear the browser cache! :D

In word if you go into:

Tools...options.....general tab. Then about 1/2 way down you'll see "recently used files list" and a setting you can change to show how many files you want to be displayed, aswell as a check box to turn it completely off or on. Well if you ubcheck it and close out of word and then reopen word again and then its up to you or not to turn it back on or not, but any way any recently used documents will be cleared from words list.

if you are running XP go to your start button and right click and then left click on properties

got it

then clcik the start menu tab that opens, an eiother under start menu or classic start menu ( depends which one has been chosen there will be an option to customize.
click it and then there is a clear list option which deletes everything on the lists and starts a brand new list

I learned that one some time ago, very handy

just do what the rest of us do and blame it on someone else ... just stomp out of the computer room and point the finger of blame at the first male holding a beer and say "why have you been looking at internet porn???"

then run!

:)

I'm fairly computer literate, running XP Home but I have a nagging problem I've never been able to clean up on my address bar and that is when I begin to type the www.b
immediately below it shows a http address (only one) that I can't get rid of: http:/www.bcgirlsonline.com/Tish/

anyone out there that can assist, thanks

I've tried everything ie. cleared history, temporary internet files etc. and w/o success

Go to tools then internet options.

Click on the content tab

then on the "Auto Complete" button.

Uncheck "Web Address" and any other features you do not want to complete.

Then re-start IE.

Jody, I am fairly computer literate. I would not use anyone elses computer to surf here. Windows leaves tracks all over the place. That is how they trace these guys who use the internet to stock kids.

The only safe way to ensure all is removed is to re-image your disk. If you did I sure your parents would be more upset with you for that.

The best excuse....I opened one of those spam emails by mistake and it took me to this site. I closed it when I realized what it was.

But that will only work once so save it until you are caught.

thanks CC, I tried clearing my Autocomplete history in the past and I just can't rid of this one adddress, it seems like it is embedded on the hard drive. I like the AutoComplete feature, if only I could figure a way of eliminating this one address w/o having to turn off this feature

how do I get rid of this specific autosave address permanently if I want to use the autocomplete for web addresses, this is the only #$% address thats appears to have been saved, I realize unchecking the "Web Address" disables the complete feature but once you recheck it again this nusiance address come backs, it can be an issue if one starts typing anything that starts with www.b and this is the only address that it shows (the one I'm trying to eliminate), thanks for your input
