Just wondering if there are any major differences between the very expensive sunglasses and the cheap ones? I usually get the cheapo ones at metrotown for 10.00 at one of those stands.

After my laser eye surgery my surgeon told me to buy the cheapest sunglasses out there. I have a friend who spends 300.00 or more on oakleys or some other name brand

Cheap sunglasses have the UV polarized tint on the outside of the lenses. Expensive glasses put it right in the lense.
A cheap pair of sun glasses will scratch the UV tint off a lot easier than an expensive pair. I'm a sun glasses junkie. I asked questions at the sunglass shops and prescription sun glasses place, and that seems to be the biggest difference from cheap to expensive.
Oh, and the designer name.

Don't know what "advice" dipshit silky gave - don't care - but expensive sunglasses ARE often made sturdier and with better materials. Can't count the number of $10 sunglasses that just fell apart with normal wear.

Having said that, designer name ones are horrifically overpriced.

I have a pair of Oakleys that I paid about $125 for ten years ago, and still have them. I use them for golfing and hiking.

To an extent, you absolutely get what you pay for.

I paid $500 got my D&G and they are fantastic. Though I did drop them and have a micro tiny mark on the one lense that looks like a dust fleck. My Prada's were $450 and they have taken a beating. I wear them in my helmet when I go riding, so they are on, off, on, off a lot, and they are still perfect.
However, the best part about cheap sun glasses is that if you break them or lose them, you can but 40 more pair before it reaches the cost of a really expensive pair. Ya don't really care if you break or lose a cheap pair.

I usually buy a pair of sunglasses in the summer for 10.00 and expect them to last till the end of summer. Probably wouldnt even sweat it if i sit on them or lose them. Every year i buy a new pair and it's not a bad feeling not caring much about them cause they are so cheap

You guys will spend $400 to poon for one hour yet are horrified at the thought of spending $100 on sunglasses that will last you for years. I love this board.
