Cambell is a pussy, the Board of Governors in the NHL are all pussies. Big, smelly pussies.

They haven't got the guts to enforce their own rules and have the gall to use a non-sanction in the past to justify no suspension to Matt Cooke this time.
Simply amazing.
That league will never be taken seriously outside of Canada as long as they remain a joke when it comes to protecting players, enforcement and officiating.

You can bet if Sydney Crosby was head hunted and knocked out for the season or crippled they'd do something, but to the NHL owners most players are expendable if they think they can sell a few tickets to a public that wants to see head shots.

Pussies, pussies pussies (no offence to real pussies or their owners).

I'm sure you're not really shocked, they have been waffling on this for a long time. I just hope Lucic gets a hold of Cooke next week and puts the beating on him he deserves. That little turd has been cheap shotting guys for years and getting away with it. Cooke is a classic example of a true PUSSY! He's kind of the Huny of the NHL.

Right fucking on.

NHL had a chance to do something right for a change, and wimped out BIG TIME.

It's bullshit. And I'm a Habs fan sworn to hate the Bruins.

I'm sure I will get my head bitten off for this, but I see no diff between this hit and the one Mike Richards made on Boothe. The problem is that they let Richards off scot free. That set a precendent. f they had suspended Cooke, the NHLPA would have had a legitimate grievance.

They need to change the rules and then enforce them. Shoulders to the head are legal. Hits from the side are legal.

Please note I am no Matt Cooke fan. I hated that hit. I'm just sayin!

I guess in the NHL head office they believe two wrongs do in fact make a right.

Hits like those two mentioned, Richards and Cooke, have no place in hockey.

I have maintained for years that hockey originally was a contact sport. Unfortunatly it has become a collision sport. The players today are too big, too fast and too strong to still be playing on an NHL ice surface. International size rinks will eventually have to come into place as the players keep getting bigger and faster. In the last 20 years players are averaging approx 20 lbs more than the previous generation of players. It is simply a matter of logistics.

I agree with this, the NHL. It was a clean hit according to NHL rules, yeah it sucks that savard got hurt..... but at least now they will amend that rule.

Let me amend my original statement to read, " the PA are also pussies".
They, of all people should be leading the charge to get these kinds of hits out of hockey and they sit quietly on the sidelines letting their own members become disabled.
Why would the PA grieve a suspension to Cooke? Most of the players hate him, too.
Are their any "fans" who like seeing those kinds of hits?
If the NHL is trying to satisfy those fans they deserve to be the laughing stock they have become.

It's like belonging to a union. All members have rights to representation by the PA. They all pay the same dues. So, whether it's Mike Richards or Matt Cooke, they have the same rights. It's all under their charter. The real pussies (IMHO) ar the GM's & owners. They should have changed the rules years ago.

According to the CBA, the player (hated or otherwise) can only face supplementary discipline if rules are broken. And the hit was legal according to the rules.

I'll take you back even further. Cooke's hit is no different than Scott Stevens' hit on Eric Lindros. Yet Stevens was hailed as a fearsome competitor. The rules in hockey were the same back then as they are right now. Why didn't people feel that way about Stevens? Was it because he was a 'star' player and Cooke isn't? Don't get me wrong, I'm no Cooke fan, I'm just saying there shouldn't be a double standard.

True, but one can flip that around and say that they have to also represent the Booths and Savards of the union who have had their careers detrimentally affected and altered because of these types of plays and actions. I would say that in situations like these, they're rights aren't being represented at all.

From a dispassionate point of view, the PA's purpose is to enforce the CBA and to represent the player. Therefore, they have to represent Savard & Cooke. By not defending Cooke, they would be abdicating their responsibility under their charter.

One thing we can agree on. I hated Cooke when he was here, this turd only hits jumping a few feet in the air except amazingly for this hit on savard. Surprisngly how Canuckleheads called him "cookie' in a endearing way. A repeat offender. Shldve got 8 games that ought teach him a lesson.

But hard to suspend when Richards got off Scot-free fir similiar hit.

Stevens hit Lindros with his head down looking for the puck, Cook's hit was from the "blindside", slightly diffrent IMHO.

Should have been pretty straight forward.
With Cookes history, this should have been a 10-15 game suspension.

Lets hope this mistake doesn't end up being another Steve Moore incident.
Can you imagine?

You're correct....it really isn't anything normal people would have trouble understanding. Thus why the NHL did nothing. Collectively they really aren't that bright. Of course I don't want to see Cooke hurt for life but he does deserve a good beating and I hope he gets it. He's been protected by the instigator rule for far too long. Even his team mates are disgusted by him.
