So now Cody's mom needs to come up with over $30,000.00 to cover her son's Cuban fiasco (hey, that rhymes with Castro:D).
She's kinda MILFy,.
Any suggestions?;)

What I don't get is how she racked up that kind of debt, over a car accident. They have a system, work with it and he'd have been home long ago without the cost. I get the feeling the kid probably got mouthy and that's what got him locked up.

The kid wasn't allowed to leave the country. The bill is for the stay at the resort.

What I don't get is why a nineteen year old was driving a rental car in Cuba. He certainly cannot rent one in Canada at that age and I don't think he is allowed to drive one here either.

with variations, this is the latin way. when you get in a car accident you are expected to negotiate a settlement with the other party. when the police arrive, they will stand to one side while you negotiate that settlement. if you cannot arrive at a settlement, they impound the vehicles, the drivers and the passnegers until the courts can settle things for you, a process that can take years. the passengers are usually let go once they give a signed statement and pay some 'costs' to the police. the drivers are not let go until some serious cash changes hands (unless one or both of them is a very powerful dignitary). even if you are completely blame free, it is in your best interests to make whatever settlement with the other driver you can, quickly, because things get very expensive once you go to the police station

Mexico o.k. try that with a Cuban cop and see what happens.
