clicking noise on blackberry

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this before? When I am at home I sometimes hear a lot of clicking noises on my blackberry. It sounds the same way as that clicking noise when you call a company and the automated system transfers you ("you may hear a few clicks on the line as you are transferred, do not hang up"). I also picked up a radio station the other day...I know this was not hold music because the phone was still ringing and on top of the ringing I could hear a radio station come in and out.

What's going on? I don't seem to remember this happening anywhere other than at home and it has never happened with other phones, even in this apartment.

Clicking question

Before offering an opinion, is your carrier Rogers or Fido? Rogers and Fido have a particular way they send a signal from their towers, especially Rogers, so that is why the question.

My carrier is Fido, and it happened today at Blenz. There are a ton of wireless networks around me, and Blenz has a wifi too...I'm wondering if it is somehow related. As far as I can remember it's never happened on the skytrain for instance.

I doubt my phone was "tapped" as they tap phone numbers, not phones specifically. Besides, having your phone tapped will not cause you to pick up radio stations and I doubt you can hear click noises as that would make it pretty obvious it was tapped and cause you to not say the things they are trying to get you on tape as saying...

Fido and Rogers are essentially the same nowadays and I think you are right about it being because you were in Blenz, especially if you were using the phone. If you have not heard this already, take a Blackberry that is on Rogers or Fido and place it on your desk near a computer that has speakers attached to it and turned up. Now have somone call the Blackberry. A full 1 - 2 seconds before your phone rings or lights up, your computer speakers will start to make a loug buzzing noise. Now imagine what the radio waves, that can make computer speakers hum loudly, can do to your brain, but I digress. More than likely what you experienced was feedback and interference from the multiple wireless cards, networks and cell phones radiating at the Blenz.

oh yes the blackberry does this but my other phone did that too (the crackling in the computer speakers). My old phone did not make noises though, only the blackberry does.

It's really annoying though, sometimes it is so loud and often that I can not have a proper conversation. I don't think anyone else can hear it. It works great when I'm not in my apartment, fuckers.

The noise is definitely from the wireless. If you put any smart phone that has wireless ability near a radio, the speakers will crackle. Makes you wonder about the old debate about whether cell phones can cause brain cancer :(
