Anyone trying to rent out their basement suit lately?

I have to fix up a lot of things which will cost me in the ten of thousands of dollars just to fix it and get someone to rent it.....

I paid property taxes every god damn years and now city of langley want more upgrade for tenants..... This is bullshit and forget it.....

I am not going to offer shelter to those who needs but rather live the house all with my family.

30 years ago, it wasn't illegal but now they say basement suit is illegal....... WTF is wrong with them......

I am sick of the bylaw here and thinking that maybe growing weed is much better than to trying to rent the goddamn basement suit for 600/ month..

do crime to make moneys is much better.. Fuck THE bylaw....

Why deal with them in the first place? why not just rent it out? Where I live, 99% of the suites are illegal, no one makes a peep. Kind of like don't ask, don't tell On second thought, you might want to ask or check out if your area is "zoned" for that. I believe bylaw deals with it...

no, i can get fine 100/per day until my tenants move out if I get caught....

ITs bullshit bylaw that want to force more landlords to spent more moneys and give city inspectors works to do......

I've rented out the basement for the last 4 years with no problem.
My concern is not with the city but with the Feds if they find out I'm not declaring the income.

Legal Suites Vancouver Westside

Ya a couple of years back here in Vancouver they legalized all secondary suits. On the west side, almost every house had an illegal suite lol.

Not to be picky, but that's not quite the case. People with suites did have the option of declaring them to the city, with the intent of making them legal. However to be legal, the suites did have to comply with building by-laws. Most basement suites in older houses can not make the minimum clear ceiling height to be legal, let alone other issues that plague older homes.
