I say she is premier by-default as she didn't win an election only because Campbell quit. Don't care what rules or laws says. She need to win the provincial election to be recognized as Premier in my books

In the Canadian system the Prime Minister, the provincial Premiers are not elected directly, but are choosen by the political party they are part you. When you voted (if you voted) you voted for your local MP or MLA, not the PM or Premier

That's true, but Clark wasn't even an MLA in the last provincial election.

She was selected as Premier by a few Liberals, then voted in as an MLA by a percentage of people in one riding.

She does not have a mandate from the electorate at large until she wins a provincial election.

You may need to move out of the country. As has been stated, it is the way the system has been since God knows when...Did you complain when Harcourt stepped down and Glen Clark took over? Glen Clark -> Ujjal Dosanjh? How about when The Zalm stepped down and Rita Johnston took over? Heck...not even a parliamentary system, but Nixon stepped down and Ford took over!?! Just the way it has always been.

If you want to hold out hope that Christie Clark will leave, I think it was only Clark that really succeeded in getting the party voted back in after taking over as the Premier (?).

I find Christie Clark to be a little too opportunistic for my tastes. But she may well become the first ELECTED female premier in Canada.
You mean in BC ;)

PEI and the Territories have had elected female premieres in the past. Something I didn't know either until your post made me look it up out of curiosity ;)

Don't forget Nfld ... two of the three party leaders are female and the outlooks seems to favour a female premier and leader of the opposition . . . after this falls election.

I felt that way at first too but she is much more legitimate after she (narrowly) won her by-election. However, she will gain more legitimacy if she can carry the Liberals to victory in 2013, which she most likely won't.
