How would you like it if you were a public figure and your regular SP sold you out to his friend who can't keep his big mouth shut?Manhattan said:What do I care? I am not his fan anyway and whether my friend lied or not...I really don't give a damn! Sport Stars are human too...how many married men here on this board are seeing SPs? Just because Cloutier is a star player and he won't see SP as well? Are you that naive?
wilde said:Saku Koivu is European. He battled back from a bout with cancer, played his heart out in the playoffs with a craked rib (read above post by moi). Never plays on the perimeter. He stands at 5'9 with skates on but play like he is 6'5. Stop insulting European players, Don Cherry you ain't.
scott231 said:Sorry my mistake they could of finished 4th in the Western Conference, as the Av's were the best team all year. BTW What do you guy's think of this trade Joe Thornton for Todd Bertuzzi? Joe wants out and he's younger 25 and is a better player right now then Bertuzzi was when he was 25. Joe Thornton is the real deal and would look awesome in a Canuck's jersey. I think Todd Bertuzzi needs a fresh start so dealing him for Joe would be a good move on Dave Nonis part.
Yeah I am in love with him, I just love the way he couldn't make a save to a routine shot from the centre ice.Manhattan said:Nope..my response to your comment was "WHAT DO I CARE?" and Cloutier deserves being "exposed"..if you were a public figure, you should be more careful with your behavior! Don't see SPs if you are worried about if the public would know! I don't rat out my friends and I keep all my friends' secrets to the grave. But he's a public figure and I don't know him...so I don't give a fly fuck about him!
I'll be mr. wilde is Cloutier's groupieno wonder you are so protective and defensive of him...are you in love with him? shattered his "perfect" image in your mind?

Oh and playing with a craked rib and leading your team in playoff scoring is child's play? There are at leaset 20 plyers on his team that will diagree with you and they play the game for a living. And what level is he not on?BDAClub said:Wilde.....yes that was a great personal recovery from cancer I'm not disputing that......On the.......... ice in the dressing room he's not on the same level with those guys. All the great captains who have ever played and took their team to the cup......name one European.....it's not about being a Don Cherry clone.....it's a fact.....name me one.

You singled out "may be" Peter Forsberg, but he is not the captain of his team. So why him? And I guess Mats Sundin is a sissy in your books and Nikaulas Lidstorm could't carry Rob Blake's skate. Lidstorm winning the Conn Smythe was hust a fluke. Igor Ulanov sacrificing his body more than any of his teammates when Edmonton had the almost great playoff run last season, I guess that was because he is a crazy Russian.
As for naming on European captain taking a team to the cup, I'll give you that one. But don't forget the massive influx of European players until the 90s. And there haven't been that many captains who are Europeans. So this is an anomaly due to the circumstances.
NHL hockey is bare keeping some people awake as it is. Without, the skill levels that the European brings you may as well switch to arena football or watching paint dry.
Montreal not being an offensive juggernaut, so very true. And thats what make Koivu's effort so special. He showed everybody what he can do when given talented wingers such as Kovalev (one of the biggest reason the Rangers won the cup in 1994), Zednik, and Ryder.BDAClub said:Wilde I'm not contesting skill as a player I'm saying they don't have the intangibles to lead a team as a captain......granted he played hurt good it's the playoffs he should as far as leading his team in scoring goes.....Montreal isn't exactly an offensive juggernaut.......
As far as Ulanov goes......on that team.....two words for ya Ryan Smyth!!
They are talented players that deserve to play in the league no doubt.....but they come up short in the grit and heart department to wear the C.
So I'm not saying there not good players I'm talking about who you want as the Captain of your team in the Playoffs when you need him the most.

Have you any idea how much a cracked rib hurts? It is an injury that usually take upto as much as 4 months to heal. It hurts when you breath too hard which all hockey player do. Just ask Joe Thornton who had zero points in 7 games in the playoffs. While Koivu played with the same injury and had 11 points in 11 games while playing against the other teams top line or with the other team's checker following him like flies on shit.
Ulanov wouldn't even miss a shift after his face was hit by a puck. His teammates including Ryan Smyth were all in awe with his grit. What has Ryan Smyth done lately since he blew his knee?
Saku Koivu got his captaincy by a vote between his team mates. I think they know something more about grit and heart than yourself. His team mates obviously would beg to differ with your view. They are on the ice together, and they are the ones who KNOWs. If you question his grit and heart, then obviously you don't know much about hockey let alone grit and heart. He may be small but he plays HUGE. I rest my case.
