Because anything that has anything to do with people that fire weapons in the air for the TV cameras is going to go bad?

I have no idea how Harper let himself be talked into involving Canada in Libya. Eventually, the coalition will have to put troops on the ground in order to impose some order, then we'll find out that Libyans are also good at making IEDs.
The statement was rhetorical, but ya that's usually a sign of crap to come. What I would be worried about right now is, what support can Gaddafi get in the extremist camp. His latest speech was heavy on Islam vs.The West. With his past history of supporting the P.L.A., the I.R.A. and whatever terrorist group wanted/needed his money I don't put it past him to try to launch attacks on civilian populations through groups like this in the countries that are supporting the No Fly Zone. Consider a suicide bomber or two surfacing in London about the time of the Royal Wedding and shit like that. The more he feels he's cornered, the more likely that those scenarios can/will play out.

"The Chinese foreign ministry said Beijing 'as always does not agree with the use of force in international relations'."

"Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said China believed that all countries should respect Libya's 'sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity'.

'We hope stability can be restored in Libya as soon as possible so as to avoid more civilian casualties caused by the escalation of military conflict,' she said.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/india-china-russia-oppose-air-strikes-libya-20110320-034122-839.html

"Another plea from china for world peace; give me a break.

"China wants stability in Libya, thats like asking for the Tectonic Plates in the Japanese Pacific to fuse together and remain stationary forever.
The world leaders of Human Rights looking for stability, send some of your Tiananmen Square people crushing tanks to Kadhafi, that will straighten things out in a hurry.

"The people of China tried to start democracy protests of their own and were more then likely thrown in jail with no real hope of getting out. UN dropping bombs to help an oppressed people doesn't sit well with China...

"China is against loss of life if it reduces the number of slaves, sorry, workers in the oil fields"

"China, stay the hell away from this conflict, you have absolutely look ridiculous to express your views on this genocide in Lybia since you abstained. If you want to look like a hero for Ghadafii,

"mabey china is seeing the rest of the dictatorships fall and is fearful for its comunist government falling might be next seems to be a trend happening in that type of politics..."

"China is concerned with civilian deaths in Libya but could care less about its own civilians. I watched a documentary about illegal battery factories in rural China, they leak insane amounts of lead into the rural water systems around them in their waste products and take out entire villages nearby and the government does NOTHING even though they know about it, they don't even warn the people who are often uneducated and don't quite know enough about it to protect themselves. They allows crops grown in soil irrigated with contaminated water to be harvested, disbursed and consumed. And they have an atrocious lead mining history too. I didn't fully understand how terrible it was to die this way and how long it can take. If China wants to be taken seriously, they need to improve their own record of disregarding human life. No country wants to see innocent people hurt in Libya.

"I agree...where was..or is..China on anything? They are the biggest arms supplier to Africa...do they give a @#$%...really? ..I doubt it...they always sit on the sidelines and do nothing but criticize..and just how much help has China offered? They are the masters of doing nothing but calling others out......but what can you expect for a country that kills, imprisions and tortures their own citizens if they are deemed a threat in any way.

"Hopefully it will stop some people from buying stuff thats made in China , Every dollar you send them is another lost job here for your brothers and sisters, and when the time comes , do you thnk they`ll have your back?, they are showing there true colors here yet again,"

"Where was China, when their Neighbour Japan suffered the worst Natural disaster in History?
Not a word from China, even to offer support or aid. Yet the west was there to help them when they suffered a devastating earthquake.
America was in their like a dirty shirt, with aid and support. even a country that is struggling with a huge debt, the people of America dug deep into the Pockets to send aid,
Now who is the better country? Those that are hating the USA, should be kissing their butts for the freedom that you enjoy today, Europe and Asia is the resting place of thousand of American Soldiers, that gave their lives for other peoples freedom. How soon everyone forgets"

"China wants stability restored to Libya as soon as possible"
I agree, as soon as Gadafi is dead it will be stable

"since when dose china care for anything but north korea???????

"Another "quality" addition by China to the world...let's just hope that the equipment that the Libyan army is using is made in China.

"If China wants stability then just send budha over and maybe budha can meet allah on the way.I'm sure they could fix things

Hey Lenny, if you are so against China, here's a challenge for you. Why don't you throw out everything in your home that's made in China, stop visiting micros with Chinese SPs, stop ordering Chinese take-outs? China's foreign relations policy is very simple, my enemy's enemy is my friend. It is trying to secure oil and natural resources just like any of the G7 countries. The only difference is the G7 countries give their quest a better PR campaign and often in the name of democracy or against oppression. You wanna talk about who the biggest arms dealer in the world is, I am sure you know who that is.

China has always had a frosty (to put it mildly) relationship with Japan but in times of need, there are assistance to each other although more symbolic than anything else: http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/...-japan-aid-earth-quake-tsunami-bilateral-ties

I'm not against everything made in China, not at all. I'm always saying how superior Asian girls are to Westerners. How 90% of the hotties DT are Chinese. I fly nothing but Cathay Pacific, & hope i can sit beside a 20 YO stunner ; If they're living here, maybe its because they were fleeing an oppressive regime. If they were born here or are Canadian citizens i consider them Canadians, Hongcouverites, not Chinese. I have friends & relatives who have relationships with those of Chinese origins. If only i were so lucky to have such a GF. But my post was mostly as bait to see what Chinese Nationalists would pop up ;

Now if you could only get laid today, the world would be a better place.

"Well mr Gaddafi and friends see this is what you get when you play chicken with the States and Britain, YES people since 1917 the United States and Britain and thier allies have been protecting this world from all sorts of evil.Yes it leads to peoples deaths but what war doesn`t but did you ever think of how many more there would be if they didn`t step in and do something. After Hitler wiped out theJews then who would be next on his list. And Stalin or the Korean war Or the Kurds by Sadam or the Afgans by the Soviets. Pick any conflict you like. the answer is the same. If it were not for Britain and The States and their allies would you be living in a free western world right now I seriously doubt it . It is easy to say they are only there for the oil, or pushing their weight because they are supper powers. and yes this is true it is important to keep the wheels of industry moving or you don.t get to eat tomorrow It is important to stabalize this situation or everyone suffers. Not to mention those poor little arab people being bombed to death by their own government. If they are all eliminated by this benevolent leader mr gaddafi then I guess it won`t matter wether they have oil or not. I think they would be a bit upset with some of you who think it is ok to just let them DIE at the hands of their despotic leader. I`m sure if they had to sell you their oil to protect them from this lunatic I think they would trade this for their lives I know I would. WHAT ABOUT YOU..........WOULD YOU GIVE UPI YOUR OIL TO LIVE IN PEACE AND FREEDOM.... think about it for a minute

"The people of Libya endured abuse for 40 years. They are saying "Enough is enough". They asked for help. Many countries have responded by giving it through the U.N. It is too little, too late. However it is something. It has boosted morale and put insane dictators on notice. Of course the countries coming to Libya's aide are not without their self interests and yes oil plays a part. Bottom line the people of Libya are fighting for freedom and deserve meaningful protection and assistance

Lenny, I think mr. Stalin and the USSR had a little more to do with the defeat of Hitler than the US did :) Also, the US backed (trained, funded) the insurgents in Afghanistan to fight the Russians a few years back... now, if only I could remember the name of the group they set up...

However, I do agree that Gaddafi has got to go. My only question is "who will replace him"? Military coupes usually don't make for the best democratic foundations.

And now it should get even more interesting...............

http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&sourc...gaHgCA&usg=AFQjCNFRCb4aXYMm8I-dZT8eLScCFxx_RA

With the A10's out of the picture the remaining Nato forces do not have the same ground attack capacity. While still be able to do some serious damage to Libyan armour, I would suggest that there will be fewer attacks on these forces as the aircraft remaining in the fight will have to armed for multi-roles and will not be hauling as much air to surface hardware as the Warthogs did. Also the change in command turning control to a Canadian General who will probably be a bit more restrained when it come to bombing the crap out everything that moves. The French seem to want to go all out on Gadhafi and that will probably cause some friction in NATO to the point that they will concentrate on keeping Libyan aircraft out of the air and let the ground war work itself out.

And there is another problem............

................the American public does not have the stomach for another Middle East war and they are letting Obama know it. In theory the C.I.A. is on the ground trying to figure out who the opposition really is. Obama better hope that they are squeaky clean, if not this will be another issue to bring him down in 2012.

As a former CIA operative can you blame him, considering they didn't have enough money in the CIA pension fund to cover the cheques they issued ?

The price of gold continues to rise to record highs. $ 1,500 is almost near. Financial institutions and private investors are stacking up as of late. And probably Libyan Generals as well. :) :)

Reminds me of the first Gulf War when Kuwait was liberated from Iraq. Who do you think in the latter stacked up gold. :)

In most countries when you don't pay the military the chief of staff becomes the next president.

Perhaps they should have a coup.
