He bet ON his team while manager. Pro sports are beholden to, and married to gambling now. To exclude probably the best all-round player ever from the Hall of Fame is ridiculous. Drug users, cxheaters, wife beaters and racists are in the HOF.
I'm not so sure. In the US we have a bunch of knuckleheads that put their woke agenda ahead of righteousness and unfortunately, they are still pissed off about Pete Rose. I agree that he should be enshrined, but I will be surprised if he ever gets in.
The Baseball Hall of Fame has many flaws when it comes to selecting players. Ego, politics, favoratism, and hypocrisy to name a few. I'd like to think that MLB must forgive and move on. Rose, far from a perfect man, but one of the most decorated hitters in history.
If Shoeless Joe Jackson is still not in the Hall of Fame, i think it's a matter of fairness and principles . As I highly doubt that there was such a thing as wokeness back in 1919 during the scandal of the Chicago White Sox WS . They introduced stringent integrity rules against gambling back then .
I believe like you that a guy betting on his own team to win just show commitment and that it's all i need to know to appreciate Pete Rose for who he was . And for that reason and and his accomplishments he should be inducted in the Hall of Fame
