Another thread was complaining about upselling or suggestive marketing in stores, but what about every place you leave that has some group begging for donations or trying to sell something?

Add them to the usual beggars outside every liquor store, ATM or convenience store.

Then add to them charities you've already donated to that phone to try to get you to donate just a bit more.

Now we have every charity under the sun begging for flood relief. Where the fuck do our tax dollars go? This is where the government is supposed to provide everything, not charities. Instead, they waste it on advertising, free flights and hotel rooms for politicians.

walmart has become the worst. outside the langley one there's always some group reselling donuts or some other sugar food. bad enough you have to deal with the cashier in walmart asking if you want to donate for this cause or that cause. feel like just saying if i had all this extra money they think i do to donate , i wouldn't be shopping at friggen walmart.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw on the news that the AB Premier had offered $1M towards the flood relief. Is she delusional? There is hundreds of Millions of Dollars in damage and displaced families all around the Bow and Elbow Rivers. Some of these Gov'ts just don't get it. I see they are relying upon Federal Assistance for the Flood Relief. One of the richest provinces in Canada has its hand out, that's pretty rich.

Actually the Alberta government announced a 1 Billion flood relief fund.....not 1 million.The burn is that for the most part 95+% of the insurance claims for flood damage will be denied because the flooding was "overland flooding" which is not covered....that wont stop the insurance companies from jacking up the rates next year because of "flood losses".

Keep in mind, they have to spend untold millions cleaning up the rodeo! That money has to come from somewhere!!!

As for the federal money, they are as entitled to federal emergency support as any other province. Our forest fire response system receives federal funding on a yearly basis, and we are a pretty darned rich province. If you would deny Alberta, you would have to deny us as well.
