I got a video tape of the new animated series "Tripping the Rift" from a friend last night. It was such a pale imitation of the original online short that I want to change my name. Is that possible?

That's what happens when companies get their hands on it and try to make money from it. Chuck Austen and Chris Moeller made a huge mistake when they first created it, they used their company's software and hardware to make it and so the company claimed ownership of TTR. Instead of targeting it for the "Adult Swim" part of marketplace they cleaned it up and made the characters cliches.kendo said:
The characters in the original TTR were the exact opposites of what Star Trek was feeding us. Instead of being responsible and respectable Commander Chode was rude, crude, violent and uncaring. Instead of being the brilliant engineer Gus was lazy and unfocused. Six of One was just a parity of Seven of Nine. Now Chode is just a loud mouth, Gus is gay, Six is a feminist sex bot. Instead of edgy and a fantastic mirror for scifi it's a boring cliche. There's not a laugh to be had.
