If you could go back in time and change something that happened long ago or recently what would it be? Only two things.
Weather it is personal or something that effects world history. Can be anything.

For me, the first would be: to be in Kurt cobains garage to stop him from blowing his head off and getting him help.
The second would be to have stopped the idea of 911. In some cave or tent in the mountains of Pakistan of Afghanistan. No use for war there later.

I would change the color of nail polish I put on yesterday...

It just doesn't look as glam as when I first put it on.

Wow seriously.... Some greater good is done by this.

1.) At the last stages of the development of the atomic bomb just before that "Eureka" moment just distract the lead guy Oppenhiemer with a "you want to see Fusion, hey pull my finger!"

2.)Go back in time and rather than kill Hitler before 1940. Go back into 1920 and Laud him as the changing artist of his time. One of the main Reasons for his delusional state was in a younger life as an artist he was regarded as an inferior artist and dismissed by the art critics of his day. He already had hatred of the western allies for the treaty of Versailles after WW1 (as a Soldier in the Austrian army) but the conspiracy he felt by the predominently jewish business and artisan's in Vienna fueled his hatred of the Jewish people. Which he later turned into nationalist furvor and an excuse for all that ailed Germany..

If that didn't work the $.69 cent solution. Blow his head off with a sniper rifle before Germany invaded Poland in 1939. The war would have still happened but to what extent????

3.) Walk with Jesus go back in time and follow him from birth to death a period of 33 years. His trials and his tribulations. That would be quite the story.

4.) Go back and change the direction of attack or change the battle plans of many battles that went completely Awry from lack of good planning and understanding of the enemy.

5.) Be the Russian D man in the 1972 summit series that a turned the puck over (LApkin) and missed his assignment on the cover on Henderson.

Canada has had 3 defining moments in our history as a nation. Vimy Ridge 1917, Beaches of Dieppe Aug 19 1942 and the September Summit series with the Russians in 1972. We lose to the Russians Guaranteed we start training our guys in skill positions. Even though it was a defining moment for Canada Henderson One shot, One guy and one goal set us back in hockey development until the 1980's, then the goon hockey that became prevalent during the 70's that would have never happened had we trained skill rather than sitting back on our Laurels as Hockey's power house.

History is always interesting if you don't know your history then your doomed to repeat it The time machine argument if you could change one thing will always exist, it's an interesting philosophical question.

Because just 1 event can change the course of human history.

This reminds me of an episode in the original Twilight Zone series. A man builds a time machine with the intention of changing history. He decides to return to a small US town in the 1880s, in which a tragic school fire was caused by runaway horses. He intends to get the wagon dirver to unhitch the horses to prevent the fire. Instead, when the time machine appears at the precise moment that the wagon is being driven, it spooks the horses, and they cause the fire anyway. So, instead of preventing a historical event, he caused it, and the circle was complete.

The time machine argument if you could change one thing will always exist, it's an interesting philosophical question.
Another interesting question is, if you went back in time and murdered your great-great grandfather, would you sitll exist?

??? Give Silky's dad a condom on that fateful night???
Now that is funny. But what would we here at perb do without the comedic interludes.

Seriously, where would one start. Remember that if you change one thing in history, the future from that point on is changed, and no one would know how it would be changed. I couldn't agree with Silken Badger about getting rid or neutralizing Hitler, but who is to say that Germany would not have gone down that path with a different dictator. Don't forget, although Hitler was the driving force of Germany, it was quite an antisemitic country after WW1. Hitler wasn't the first antisemite in Germany, but he was able to use that as a rallying point for the country.

Walking with Jesus. Now that would be interesting. So would so many of the stories in the bible. How about when Moses gets the 10 Commandments. Of course, one has to accept the idea of one powerful being, but it would be interesting.

Hell if I can be selfish for a minute, just go back a few weeks (months) with the knowledge of the 6 numbers from a lotto 6/49 and buy those numbers. Actually, just go back one week with the NFL results, now that would be a payday.

Seriously though, I would make sure Hitler never comes to power, and the Nazi movement is stopped dead in its tracks. I would also prevent the 2 Kennedy assissinations. Call me naive, but I think the world would be a better place if they lived.

Peaceguy still has the best idea.

Finding Jesus would be a tough one. You wouldn't have any exact time/location to set your time machine. You would have to speak Aramaic in order to travel around Palestine and figure out which of the hairy preachers was probably the one you were looking for, dodging the Roman authorities the whole while, and things would probably match up so sketchily that you would never be sure.

Finding a bunch of Jews wandering around the desert in order to meet Moses would be even more difficult. Your coordinates might be off by a few centuries, and if you found them, they would just be dusty refugees wandering around the Sinai.

Better to pick a historical fact so you won't waste your opportunities.....:)

I wouldn't bother trying to change anything....I would go and watch a concert by the John Coltrane Quartet, or the Jimi Hendrix Experience (maybe try to intervene to prevent his stupid death), or Duke Ellington at the Cotton Club....or maybe go to the best brothel in Storyville at the turn of the century and soak up the ragtime players and the fancy women....

You're a tough audience. As far as locating Jesus or Moses, can I take a GPS with me.?

PG that`s the best answer on here.LOL:D
Good memory there Spermie, also shows Hank is consistant.

As to going back to change things, I don`t think I would, because what would be the result. Is the world I travel back from, the world that results from the change, or will I come back to a different world I might not like that much ?

Oh and Ironhead, going back to a cave in Pakistan or Afganistan to stop the idea of 9/11 won`t work. You`d have to go to Washington for that, just ask Silky CountDunkinuts.:D

It amazing how one word in a sentence can change its complete meaning.

When I posted about Hitler referencing Silken Badgers post, I said I couldn't agree with Silken Badgers statement about getting rid of or neutralizing Hitler, when I meant to say,
I couldn't agree MORE with SB.

I think it is obvious that it changes my intentions completley. Sorry if this caused any confusion, and that I stand corrected.

Do an "Amnio" on Silky Johnson's mother!

Imagine all the stupidity we'd be avoiding if he'd been caught early enough..

Of course, then there would be even less H1N1 vaccine to go around....

As selfish as it is, I would change my personal history. I would submit my application for RMC 8 years ago, instead of civilian university. Although I am I'm the process of righting my course, I've submitted my application to the CF.
