Hi all

I had a private message from a member of PERB last month.

They were concerned that some of the information on the STI chart was not complete in regard to HPV transmission.

In the past we had the HPV risk for BBBJ, DATY and deep French kissing as unknown. The PERB membered suggested that there was evidence out there that HPV would be a risk.

I have discussed this with some people who specialize in HPV and got the following answer.

From the research studies they have reviewed they believed that HPV has a high risk of transmission with unprotected oral sex (BBBJ and DATY) and a low risk with deep French kissing.

Before everyone starts getting concerned the above just means that they have evidence that HPV can be transmitted with oral sex. The risk of having HPV in the mouth is still unknown.

There is growing evidence that HPV in the mouth may be responsible for certain types of oral cancers but they are still unsure of what types of cancer and what the chances of developing this may be. I will keep you updated if I get additional information.

I have made the changes to the STI chart.

You can view the chart here.
