The only censorship we have now is political.

Sexually, just about anything goes in music, film and literature. Even in public personal expression and art has almost no limits.

Television has some censorship, but it is rapidly eroding.

Pornography is everywhere and accessible to anyone, even minors.

Locally we have had self-censorship from the mainstream media who have excused or ignored most of the misdeeds by the current government until recently when they see the empire crumbling.

In the US the mainstream media has self-censored by not probing too deeply into US foreign policy.

the bleeping noises on tv are so annoying! I'd rather hear the swear words or just have it muted out, instead of beeps every 5 seconds on shows like Big Brother (don't watch it but sisters do and its on when I am eating dinner etc - fucking annoying).

Censorship, whether self-censored or imposed is not always a bad thing.
At least that’s what I think when a six year old looks up at a T-shirt with “Fuck Cancer” on it. I get the cause and the feelings behind it, but does a child old enough to read but not yet old enough to understand need to read “Fuck Cancer” for someone to make a point?

Got to learn sooner or later, better sooner. It is shocking when people learn about reality much later in life, or never at all.

Censorship has always been about containing and suppressing ideas under the guise of protecting public decency. Even when implemented with the best intentions, groups with social/political power pervert the intent to attack ideas and groups they have an issue with or feel threatened by. I am opposed to censorship in all forms.

So then a "Fuck Cancer" T-shirt or Pornographic images displayed on the sidewalk in front of a school are ok then?

Given a choice between "GI Joe" (Good old-fashioned fun for all ages) or an image of a breast on a sidewalk, give me pornography anytime.

The trouble with censorship is: Who are the censors? and what is their agenda!

I kind of agree most censorship is political or idealogical.

Even on this board. Look at all the shit I got into
when I said gay marriage go knock yourself out.
People just want to shut you down when they don't agree with you.

About the only sexual thing is kids that is a no no as it should be everything else goes.

Religion, bash the Catholic's all you want then the rest of the Christians.
But don't you dare touch the Muslims or the Jews.
Or there will be a holy war on you, and you will be up in court for hate crimes.

There is a guy at work a born again Christian you would not believe some of the shit he reads.
And a few other people I know believe that Jews rule the world them and the CIA.
I actually believe there should be censership, But honestly there is no one smart enough to be in charge of it.

So were sort of screwed.
Its like the gun laws. All the bad guys allready have guns laws would just keep most good people from getting them.

Censorship would just give one person or one group way to much control over the way we think and decide for everyone what is right or wrong.
